Andrew heads to the evening jumps card at Exeter for his two recommended bets/trades on Friday, April 19th.

The Tom George-trained DUNSTALL RAMBLER is an eight-race maiden who fell on his chase debut at Huntingdon last time (albeit at the last fence when in with every chance) and looks worth opposing at shortish odds in this 2m1.5f novices’ handicap chase. The yard’s British runners achieved a strike-rate of 22.4% back in 2016 but that has been in steep decline since, culminating in just 5.2% last year (five winners from 97 runners). It’s just two from 27 so far this year and with Exeter’s fences claiming more fallers than Huntingdon’s, his jumping could again come under scrutiny. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters might want to take a chance on HOOKY STREET, who shaped well on his chase debut at Hereford on his second start back after a 522-day absence and who might be able to dominate in the first-time blinkers.

Recommendation: Oppose DUNSTALL RAMBLER in Exeter 7.00

EXETER 7.30

Nicky Henderson’s KINGSTON PRIDE changed hands for 200,000euros after winning an Irish point from The Enabler last spring and the runner-up has been seen to good effect in bumpers this season, including a Listed win at Navan in December. The five-year-old was sent off as the 8-11 favourite for an all-weather bumper at Lingfield in January but, not for the first time at the Surrey venue this term, lack of Polytrack knowledge among the jumps fraternity led to a jolly being turned over. Always prominent under Nico De Boinville, he took up the running two furlongs out and stayed against the ‘dead’ rail in the straight, allowing 15-2 shot Tripoli Flyer to score down the middle of the track under Paddy Brennan. Kingston Pride was the only one of the first four home not to come from midfield or further back, beating the next prominent racer by more than 11 lengths, and he’s going to be hard to beat now back on turf. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Back KINGSTON PRIDE in Exeter 7.30
