Spreadex Market Update
US futures are indicating a slightly stronger open
US futures are indicating a slightly stronger open this afternoon ahead of the FOMC minutes which are to be released at 7pm this evening and is set to include many of the dovish comments we have recently heard from the Fed chair. Janet Yellen is also set to talk at the New York University Graduates Commencement Ceremony at 16:30, often causing volatility in global markets dependent on her remarks.
The FTSE 100 is currently lagging behind other major bourses heading into afternoon trading, despite UK retail sales hitting a 10 year high. The index is trading down around 6 points with the German Dax up 25.
GBP/USD hit highs of around 1.6921 as UK retail sales came in at 1.3% thanks to a combination of warmer weather and the late Easter holiday.
