Spreadex Market Update

DOW surges back past 22,000

The Dow and the Dollar have been the main winners of the day so far. On what is always an emotional day, the main news affecting the stock market still appears to have come from Hurricane Irma causing much less damage than was first expected at the weekend. Unsurprisingly this has given strength to insurance companies most notably Travelers Cos, which in itself is adding 20 points to the Dow index. Tech companies are also enjoying a positive afternoon and confidence over the North Korea saga have all impacted to see the Dow once again get past the 22K level.

Elsewhere in Europe, a slight gain in the Pound (against the Euro) has seen the FTSE’s progress just be halted at 30 points for the day, but the DAX has continued after a good morning to see gains of around 1.4%.
