Spreadex Market Update

Asian markets were mixed throughout the night

Asian markets were mixed throughout the night however on the whole edged higher with exceptions to the Nikkei 225 which fell 0.3%. The markets seemed to carry over the momentum that was seen early in the US session which saw the S&P 500 break through the 1,900 level for the first time. Similarly, records continue to be smashed on the Dow Jones Industrial Average which again closed at a new high level of 17615.44 last night.

European markets are set to open mixed this morning with the FTSE 100 set to open down 8 points ahead of UK unemployment change data which is due out at 09:30. Consensus suggests that the rate will come in at 6.8% with anything other than that directly influencing GBP/USD – could we see the $1.70 level on the cards?
