Spreadex Market Update

21.05.12 Monday Afternoon

Global markets rallied this afternoon, even in the absence of global economic data, thriving on news statements from the G8 summit over the weekend affirming their aspirations for Greece’s stay within the Eurozone.

For spread betters, it seems opportunism was rife towards the latter period of today’s trading as investors punted on banks and miners, two sectors which have arguably been hit most over the recent turmoil in Europe, with a hope to grab bargains in sectors which some even argue to be oversold.

However, traders are likely to remain cautious as Eurozone powerhouse Germany still seems to remain apathetic towards the Eurozone’s current debt problems as Germany’s lack of flexibility concerning austerity within Eurozone nations as well as their rigid stance against the introduction of Eurobonds, which seemingly defies other G8 nations, appears to be troubling traders and providing a ceiling for any substantial gains this afternoon.
