European equities open flat but quickly move lower




Other major news includes Credit Suisse raising $6.2billion in fresh capital through a rights issue and private placement. Their CEO announced plans to scale back the investment banking in favour of wealth management while changing Credit Suisse’s management team.

In the UK, Chinese President Xi Jinping continues his state visit expecting to seal more than $46 billion worth of deals between the two countries. Stocks struggled in Asia as China posted its worst one day performance after a sudden bout of small cap selling. The Shanghai Composite fell to a low of 3265.4 before recovering, ending the session 3.5% lower.

In Japan, the Nikkei rose as poor trade data led investors to expect further stimulus from the Bank of Japan. Hong Kong markets are closed for the Chung Yeung Festival.
