Spreadex Market Update

23.05.12 Wednesday Evening

Today we have seen another leg of the downward trend as investors become anxious that the EU summit will not yield a solution to tackle the latest threats of the debt debacle. Even if a credible strategy does emerge from today’s meeting it is likely the markets will be nervy until the re-elections in Greece on the 17th June, offering short-term traders, such as spread betters, an opportunity to trade the volatility.

Now a Greek exit is gradually being factored in, the attention is shifting towards the possible widespread deposit withdrawals out of banks in other highly indebted nations. This has already been insidiously occurring on a smaller scale since the debt crisis began and if the fear intensifies the shock to the banking system may be incalculable and too far reaching to comprehend.
