Spreadex Market Update

Rebound in Hong Kong shares

A rebound in Hong Kong shares offset losses in Australia to bring Asian markets within positive territory. Asian stocks managed to edge higher although geopolitical woes kept gains in check. European futures are indicating another softer start as investors reduce their exposure to the markets. Fresh geopolitical concerns following airstrikes launched by U.S.-led forces against Islamic State militants in Syria will continue to drag on sentiment with the FTSE called down 5 to 6671.

The euro could be under pressure today as investors focus on the next string of economic data. German Ifo Business Climate, which rates the level of current business conditions, is scheduled for a reading of 105.9, down from 106.3 from the previous month. The dollar fell against most of its major peers as signals of an uneven economic recovery damped speculation the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates by mid-2015.
