Euro markets maintain early gains

European markets maintain early gains and US futures indicate a high open after negotiators reached a deal on Cyprus, hours before the deadline and reducing the risk of a possible exit to the euro zone. The relief rally has helped the S&P make a new run at its record high.

A deal was reached between Cyprus, the heads of the European Union, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund. They will act together to wind down the state-owned Popular Bank of Cyprus and shift deposits below 100,000 euros to the Bank of Cyprus.

Gold declined below $1,600, following a three-week rally, as investors dump the precious metal in search of riskier assets after a bailout deal for Cyprus was concluded.

Vodafone Group shares were up 2.7% after the Sunday Times reported they have held talks to sell its stake in Verizon Wireless.
