Spreadex Market Update

FTSE 100 trading lower

European equity markets continue to trade mixed this afternoon, with the FTSE 100 trading lower against a positive session for the Dax. The FTSE 100 is being led higher by the once-loved EasyJet, a company that had a meteoric rise to the index but that has since found softness in its price off the back of an investment bank turning bearish on its prospects. The stock is up 3.8 percent on what looks to be a continuation of the Air France strike action. Leading the index lower is Next Plc, who guided on lower sales as a result of unseasonably warm weather. But, for a company that has head such a stellar run of growth and profitability, the market will be watching carefully for any signs of slowing earnings growth.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average has opened up marginally today, trading some 30 points higher on yesterday’s close. Apple, a stock still closely followed since ‘bendgate’, is finding renewed demand, trading higher by 1.25 percent at $101.40.
