Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew heads to the jumps meetings at Lingfield and Hereford for his two recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, November 12th (please note: Andrew’s next column will be on Thursday, November 14th)…
CAT TIGER was only fourth of five at Exeter on last month’s reappearance but, like many from the Paul Nicholls yard this season, he ran as though needing the outing. His trainer had a glut of winners at Wincanton last Saturday, including two who were having their second start of the current campaign and Cat Tiger can be expected to take a big step forward. The first-time cheekpieces are an interesting angle, as Nicholls does well with this headgear, especially on horses who finished fourth or worse on their latest outing – he’s won with 38 of the 154 qualifiers (24.7%) since the beginning of 2010 for a profit of £75.01 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 23.54, A/E = 1.61). The presence of David Maxwell in the saddle tempers confidence but it will be disappointing if he doesn’t finish second at worse. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Back CAT TIGER in Lingfield 1.35
SUPERBOLT was left with plenty to do in an amateur jockeys’ handicap chase at Ludlow 19 days ago and wasn’t helped by racing very wide throughout. Nigel Twiston-Davies’ four-year-old stayed on well at the business end but never looked like getting to the winner, who held on by three-quarters of a length. The four-year-old, who was making his chase debut, jumped well in the main apart from errors at the last two fences and looks likely to improve now Sam Twiston-Davies gets on board for the first time. The son of Zoffany is a ten-race maiden but has only had two runs for current connections and it will be surprising if he doesn’t go close at least granted a clear round. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back SUPERBOLT in Hereford 2.35
