Andrew Mount's Racing Tips

Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 15.02.24

There’s a decent card at Sandown this afternoon where Andrew heads for his two recommended bets/trades on Thursday, February 15th.

SANDOWN 1.20

CELTIC NED looked a weak finisher when seventh of 12 over 2m4f here last month and it was the same story when he finished an 11-4 fourth of eight over 2m at Lingfield the time before. Gary Moore’s six-year-old drops back in trip today but comes out worst of the seven runners on the clock and looks worth taking on. Rather than sell him in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market I’m going to buy the consistent MADE FOR YOU, whose latest Leicester third took his record right-handed in handicap hurdles to 11112252123 (5-11). That Leicester run might have been needed after 75 days off the track and he should strip fitter this afternoon.

Recommendation: Back MADE FOR YOU in Sandown 1.20

SANDOWN 1.55

GUNSIGHT RIDGE fell in a Class 2 handicap chase at Wetherby last time but looks very interesting back at Sandown where he has a heavy-ground win and a third-place finish on good to soft to his name from two runs. Both those came in Class 2 company and Olly Murphy’s nine-year-old will appreciate the slight ease in grade. His record in Class 3 or lower company, since his racecourse debut, stands at 21232321 (2-8), including chase figures of 321 (1-3), with the third place on his rules chase debut when finding good to soft going quicker than ideal and the runner-up effort to Cheltenham Gold Cup hope L’Homme Presse who was running off a handicap mark of just 128 (he’s now rated 170).

Recommendation: Back GUNSIGHT RIDGE in Sandown 1.55
