Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew made a good profit with his buys of DOCKLANDS (2nd, 10-1) and WITCH HUNTER (4th, 40-1) on Tuesday and has three recommended bets/trades on day 2 of Royal Ascot.
In recent years, a low draw has been difficult to overcome in the Queen Mary Stakes – Ascot’s opener on Wednesday – with those drawn in stall 11 or lower recording just one victory from 110 runners in the past ten renewals. Last year’s first four finishers were drawn 28, 18, 17 and 21 and on Tuesday’s evidence a high draw could be a big help. ENCHANTING EMPRESS (stall 25 of 26) and KASSAYA (stall 21) are the pair at the head of my shortlist and I’m going to buy both in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market. The first-named is unbeaten in three starts, clocking a fast time when completed her hat-trick in the Listed National Stakes at Sandown, while Kassaya also impressed on the clock when powering to victory at Nottingham.
Recommendation: Back ENCHANTING EMPRESS and KASSAYA in Royal Ascot 2.30
Fourteen of the last 15 winners of the 1m Duke Of Cambridge Stakes were aged four but the market for this Group 2 contest is dominated by five-year-olds LAUREL and ROGUE MILLENIUM. The pair have also been done no favours by the draw (stalls 1 and 2 respectively) and I much prefer the claims of the consistent BREEGE (stall 13), placed in all three starts at Ascot, and RUNNING LION (stall 11), who looked ill at ease on the track when a disappointing favourite behind Breege at Epsom last time. The Best way to side with the pair is to buy DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER with Spreadex.
Recommendation: Buy DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER in Royal Ascot 3.45
AURORA DAWN looked very unlucky to finish sixth in a hot 7f handicap at Goodwood last time, repeatedly finding trouble in a race won by Wild Tiger, one of the market leaders for today’s Royal Hunt Cup (Royal Ascot 5.05). Ed Walker’s filly also finished unplaced at Kempton on her reappearance but the return to a straight course is the key. Her two previous turf runs on straight turf courses resulted in comfortable wins in 7f handicaps at Newmarket and Newbury and the step back up to 1m could also bring about improvement. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or back her each-way in the fixed odds betting.
Recommendation: Back AURORA DAWN in Royal Ascot 5.40
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
