Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew bids to get the new week off to a flyer with two recommended bets/trades at Worcester and Catterick on Monday, August 19th.
NIBRAS GOLD has been labelled a ‘twicer’ in some quarters, which is understandable as he’s finished second in six of his last eight starts. He trailed home in 15th place at Market Rasen last time but that was when 33-1 for a Class 2 handicap hurdle and he can bounce back to form this afternoon now returned to fences and Class 4 level. David Pipe’s six-year-old has only had two runs over the larger obstacles, finishing a three-quarters of a length second over 2m at Ffos Las before a runner-up effort at Stratford when emerging best of those to come from off the pace (2m3.5f). His three runs here over hurdles produced form figures of 123 (1-3) and, with front-runners MAGISTRATRO and ITTACK BLUE in opposition, this hold-up performer should have the race run to suit. Buy at 12 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or back him each-way in the fixed odds betting (11-2 at the time of writing).
Recommendation: Back NIBRAS GOLD in Worcester 2.30
ALMANJOOR trailed home last of seven at Hamilton on his nursery debut but took a big step forward at Doncaster on his next outing when fitted with a first-time visor, going down by half a length in a 6f nursery at odds of 9-1. The cut back to 5f didn’t suit at pace-favouring Beverley last week where he kept on into second behind all-the-way winner GO ON ROSIE (re-opposes today). The third and fourth were also up with the pace that day and it was a solid effort in the circumstances. The form of his Haydock second received a boost when fourth-placed Piranha Rama (11-8 favourite) bounced back to win at Windsor and when the winner, Monomyth, went close at Southwell yesterday. Richard Fahey’s juvenile is back up to 6f today and can be bought in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (7-2).
Recommendation: Back ALMANJOOR in Catterick 2.45
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
