Andrew Mount's Racing Tips

Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 20.02.24

Andrew heads to Newcastle’s evening fixture for his two recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, February 20th.

NEWCASTLE 5.30

PALLAS LORD has been on a roll since the tongue-tie was re-applied in December, recording form figures of 221211 (3-6). I opposed him when he won over 7f at Newcastle last week but with a headwind forecast tonight this pacesetter might find life tougher and the value buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market is the Alan Brown-trained JEMS BOND, who has a great record at this time of year. He was third here 72 hours ago, taking his record from mid-February until the end of March to 113218313 (4-9) and he holds solid each-way claims again.

Recommendation: Back JEMS BOND in Newcastle 5.30

NEWCASTLE 6.30

THE CALTONIAN has done phenomenally well on the all-weather since fitted with blinkers, recording form figures of 1123211128 (5-10). That long sequence of win/placed efforts was ended when Linda Perratt’s five-year-old was only eighth of 13 in a 7f handicap here last time (7-2 favourite) but he served it up to the leaders too soon and didn’t get home over the trip. He has won over 7f but only in Class 6 company and, having won over 5f as recently as January of this year, will be happier back in trip this evening. The likely strong pace and headwind will assist his patient running style and he’ll be able to get cover from stall 7. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (each-way).

Recommendation: Back THE CALTONIAN In Newcastle 6.30
