Andrew warms up for York with two recommended bets/trades at Kempton and Brighton on Tuesday, August 20th.

KEMPTON 3.45

MOLLY VALENTINE landed a 6f fillies’ maiden at Kempton on her all-weather debut but her subsequent runs on artificial surfaces – all in handicaps on Polytrack – have returned form figures of 5634606 (0-7). However, the only bright spot among that sequence, a close-up 18-1 third over today’s course and distance in Class 4 company last summer was the only other time she raced against her own sex. Her turf career has run a similar course with her only handicap run against fillies producing a Nottingham victory on soft ground last spring. Dean Ivory’s four-year-old had five geldings in front of her when sixth at Lingfield last time and the return to fillies’ company could spark a revival. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (each-way).

Recommendation: Back MOLLY VALENTINE in Kempton 3.45

BRIGHTON 4.30

The Kubler yard has an excellent record at Brighton, scoring with 11 of their 38 runners (29%) for a profit of £23.10 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 4.51, A/E = 2.44). They also do well with stable switchers and WALEYFA, a three-time winner for Alice Haynes last year, is a potential improver for the change of scenery. Billy Loughnane is a positive booking and the six-year-old, forecast to start at odds of 9-1, could provide a spot of value in a weak contest. Only one of the Kubler’s stable switchers made their yard debut at Brighton – Zulu Girl, second by half a length at 16-1 – and Waleyfa rates a speculative buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Back WALYEFA in Brighton 4.30
