Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 22.02.24

Andrew heads to the afternoon jumps meeting at Lingfield for his two recommended bets/trades on Thursday, February 22nd.

LINGFIELD 3.15

This 2m4f mares’ handicap chase could be ripe for a minor upset as ANNIE MAGIC, put in as the even-money favourite on Wednesday afternoon, is just one from eight under rules, while second-favourite LAZY SUNDAY tends to jump out to her right, albeit she did so in this race 12 months ago and still won it. The trip looks on the short side for the first-time blinkered SO SAID I and the value call looks to be Chris Gordon’s SWINCOMBE FLEAT. She was pulled up on her stable debut in December but that was when 66-1 for a Listed contest and she’s two from three on her second start of the season. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back SWINCOMBE FLEAT in Lingfield 3.15

LINGFIELD 4.15

CAMULUS changed hands for £105,000 after his close second to Nick Rockett in an Irish point back in October 2021 though their careers have taken very different paths since. The winner went on to land four of his first seven starts under rules, including a Grade 2 novices’ hurdle, while the runner-up drew a blank in seven starts for Christian Williams, despite often attracting market support. He hasn’t been seen since his Taunton sixth last spring but has joined Venetia Williams since that effort and can make a winning start for his new handler off what could be a very generous mark of 95. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back CAMULUS in Lingfield 4.15
