Andrew heads to Pontefract and Hereford’s evening jumps card for his two recommended bets/trades on Friday, May 24th.

PONTEFRACT JOCKEYS

HOLLIE DOYLE is a rare visitor to Pontefract where she has ridden 14 winners from 52 runners (27% strike-rate) for a profit of £16.18 to a £1 level stake against an expected score of 9.24 (A/E = 1.52). Eighteen of the 38 beaten horses also made the frame, and she has some live chances among her five mounts at this evening’s fixture. HOSTELRY (6.15) was only seventh of 13 when the 5-2 favourite at Beverley under Joanna Mason last time but endured a wide trip and that venue, where Ruth Carr’s seven-year-old is now 0-4, is perhaps not ideal.

Doyle has only ridden the mare once previously on turf, scoring on fast ground at Chepstow last summer.  Charlie Appleby’s It’s slightly odd to see Godolphin’s ENCHANTED LIFE (6.45), a 7f winner at Kempton last October, dropped to 5f for her turf debut but she showed good early speed last time and is well drawn in stall 3. Archie Watson’s 38,000euros newcomer PRAETORIAN (7.45) has possibilities in the restricted maiden (7.45), While MINSTREL KNIGHT (8.15) remains open to improvement now up in trip on his second start since gelded. Ed Bethell’s three-year-old was an eyecatcher over 1m at Haydock last time, becoming outpaced before staying on to emerge best of the closers in third. LATE ARRIVAL (8.45) has a tough task from the widest draw with other pace horses on his inside but, by this point, we could have covered the spread if we buy HOLLIE DOYLE in the Spreadex PONTEFRACT JOCKEYS market. Fixed odds punters might want to combine her first four rides in a multiple bet.

Recommendation: Buy HOLLIE DOYLE in Pontefract Jockeys

HEREFORD 7.30

HARDY BOY is proving far from resolute in a finish and turned in another disappointing effort over 3m1f at Hereford last time, weakening into a ten-length third of eight (5-2 joint-favourite). The cut back to 2m5f will lure some punters back in but he’s now lost nine in a row since landing a shocking four-runner affair as the 8-11 favourite at Huntingdon a year ago and can be sold in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Oppose HARDY BOY in Hereford 7.30

Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
