Andrew Mount's Racing Tips
Andrew made a good profit with his buy of IT JUST TAKES TIME (2nd) at Ripon on Tuesday and has three bets/trades on Wednesday, August 28th.
GLORY FIGHTER has a solid record over 5f in fields of nine or fewer runners, landing seven of his 21 such starts for a profit of £20.17 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 3.91, A/E = 1.79). He also finished second or third on a further eight occasions. Paul Midgley’s veteran, who finished a half-length third over course and distance last week, faces just five rivals and is likely to be bang there at the business end once more. Buy at 14 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (11-2 at the time of writing).
Recommendation: Back GLORY FIGHTER in Catterick 4.55
There was a strong draw bias in the 6f Thirsk handicap won by South Parade on August 9th – the winner made all against the favoured rail from stall 12 of 13 and was chased home by runners drawn 3, 8, 11, 9 and 10. Highland Olly, beaten by almost 14 lengths from a modest draw in stall 6, was a 17-2 winner at Musselburgh yesterday, while the poorly drawn 10th, 11th and 12th (stalls 5, 4 and 1 respectively) improved their Racing Post Ratings by 41, 42 and 44lb on their next runs. Today, it is the turn of the runner-up, PROFITEER, who ran a blinder to finish so close from stall 3 in that Thirsk contest. Tim Easterby’s three-year-old now has form figures in handicap company of 3312522 (1-7) and looks set to go close at least. Buy at 24 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (2-1).
Recommendation: Back PROFITEER in Catterick 5.30
INAPPROPIATE has improved since gelded/handicapping, going down by just two lengths when seventh of 13 over 1m at Yarmouth on his seasonal return in mid-April before a trio of placed efforts over 1m2f. The step up to 1m4f should suit on his all-weather debut tonight and trainer Harry Eustace does well when running one of his in an all-weather handicap for the first time, especially on Polytrack. He’s only had nine such runners at Kempton and they included winners at 66-1, 11-1 and 100-30. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (3-1).
Recommendation: Back INAPPROPIATE in Kempton 9.00
