Andrew bids to get the new week off to a flying start with two recommended bets/trades at Ayr and Southwell on Monday, April 29th.

AYR 2.15

This season’s two meetings at Pontefract have seen low-drawn prominent racers dominate and that was certainly the case in the Placepot-busting 5f novice stakes won by Hot To Dot on April 22nd. The first three home (16-1, 40-1 and 9-1) were drawn in stalls 4, 1 and 3 of 11 and were described by the Racing Post as ‘soon prominent’, ‘led’ and ‘soon midfield’. The winner and runner-up, HARSWELL DANDY, looked flattered and it’s those who raced wide who were the ones to take from the race. Harswell Dandy is forecast to start as the 7-4 favourite today, but I’d be surprised if he confirms the form with Pontefract fifth PASTORAL WAY, who ran green and was disadvantaged by his wide track position. He also has a Johnston newcomer to contend with and looks worth selling in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Oppose HARSWELL DANDY in Ayr 2.15

SOUTHWELL 4.10

KODEBREAKER is something of a frustrating individual, landing just three of his 50 career starts, but he often places and does seem best when drawn with a running rail to his inside. Michael Herrington’s veteran has won three of his seven starts when drawn in stall 1 (+£13.50 to a £1 level stake at SP) and finished second and third in two of the four defeats. He’s 0-43 when drawn in stall 2 or above. Today’s stall 1 draw looks ideal, and the booking of Jason Hart represents a jockey uplift. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or back him each-way in the fixed odds betting.

Recommendation: Back KODEBREAKER in Southwell 4.10
