Daily Spread Betting Round-up
A scary-good Man City, a strong start for England and a high-scoring head-to-head between Italy and Namibia all feature in our Daily Spread Betting Roundup. But how much could you have won? City take no prisoners – Man City vs WatfordWell, that’s one way to get over last weekend’s loss. Having won in Ukraine mid-week, Man City completed a post-Norwich comeback with a remarkable 8-0 victory over Watford, one that a) undid any goodwill the returning Quique Sanchez Flores earned with the draw against Arsenal, and b) by implication emphasised how bad the Gunners are compared to the league’s true top tier. The speed of this dismantling was breath-taking. In less than a minute City had taken the lead; by the 18th minute they were 5-0 up. Bernanado Silva then completed his hat-trick in the 2nd half, with a late, almost unnecessary, 8th courtesy of Kevin de Bruyne near the game’s close. As you can image, such a result throws up a multitude of spread betting possibilities. Firstly, buying a Man City/Watford Goal Supremacy spread of 2.6-2.8 would have yielded a 5.2 multiplier to your opening stake. Similarly, a starting Total Goals spread of 3.95-4.15 could have netted you 3.85 times your original bet. That it was Bernado Silva that nabbed a hat-trick, not one of his more prolific peers, meant that his SMM make-up of 291 could have won you 267 times your initial stake against a relatively low opening spread of 20-24. The Goals Cubed market hit 512 compared to a starting price 106-130; and while Total Goal Minutes struck a surprisingly low 246, that was still profitable thanks to an opening spread of 198-213. Eddie Jones and co. off to winning start – England vs TongaAs expected, England were pretty comfortable in their first World Cup fixture, beating Tonga 35-3. That sizeable winning margin wasn’t quite as high as expected, however. So much so that if you thought Spreadex’s opening England/Tonga Point Supremacy spread of 45-48 was a bit rich, you could have made 13 times your initial stake by selling at that price. Azzurri don’t have it all their own way – Italy vs NamibiaThough there were more notable games during the World Cup’s opening weekend – the All Blacks setting out their stall as favourites by beating South Africa; Ireland trouncing Scotland; that French-Argentine thriller – none were as high-scoring as Italy and Namibia’s head-to-head in Higashiōsaka. The Italians won, but weren’t without their issues, the final result being 47-22. That meant, from an opening spread of 504-556, the Match Cross Points make-up hit 1034 – in other words, 478 times your initial stake.
