Daily Spread Betting Round-up
Ashes heroics from Ben Stokes, a bevy of Premier League braces and an aggressive rebound from Barcelona all feature in the Daily Spread Betting Roundup! But how much could you have won? Ben Stokes fires of England’s comeback – 2019 Ashes 3rd TestThings were looking bleak for England. After Jofra Archer’s remarkable showing against Australia, they should have been riding high. Instead they put in a parody 1st innings, managing a humiliating 67 runs (against an opening spread of 274-289). A strong 2nd innings from the Aussies then left Joe Root and co. chasing 361, a feat that seemed unimaginable as they quickly went 15-2 on day 3. At that point their Total Runs spread had slipped to 186-198, compared to a starting price of 226-241. We all know what happened next. A rollercoaster innings eventually saw the hosts make 362, leaving any optimistic England fans with 164 times their initial stake. At one point that result looked almost impossible – when Stuart Broad went out, England’s binary to win match spread had tumbled to a doom-laden 0.4-4. Those with faith, then, could have picked up 96 times their opening stake. The hero of the hour was Ben Stokes, who put in a gritty, persistent performance that saw him withstand the Aussie onslaught – and brain-baking heat at Headingley – to grind out 131 runs. Compared to his initial Runs spread of 26-30, he not only won the Test, but could have netted you 101 times your original stake. Braced for success – 2019/20 Premier LeagueWhile there were no hat-tricks a la Raheem Sterling and Teemu Pukki this weekend, there was a bevy of braces. First up was Tammy Abraham, who gave Frank Lampard his first competitive win as Chelsea manager as they just about clipped the wings of the Canaries at Carrow Road. The English youngster started at a SMM spread of 31-37, with his 3rd and 68th minute goals giving him a make-up of 139. On Sunday afternoon Sergio Aguero continued his quest for a 6th consecutive season of 20-plus Premier League goals with a brace in Bournemouth. Though was less money to be made from the Argentine – he went into the game at an absurd SMM spread of 82-97 – he still could have won you 46 times your initial stake. Extending Arsenal’s awful run at Anfield, Mohamed Salah added to Joel Matip’s 1st half opener with a 49th minute penalty, before doubling his tally less than 10 minutes later. Against an original SMM spread of 64-74, the Egyptian ended with a make-up of 165. However, above all of those bigger names, your best bet was West Ham’s Sebastien Haller. The club’s record signing opened his Premier League account in Watford, giving Manuel Pellegrini’s his 1st win of the season with a late brace – late enough that his SMM make-up hit 210 against an opening price of 28-33. That’s a potential 177 times your initial stake. Barcelona punish Real Betis – 2019/20 La LigaBouncing back hard from their opening loss against Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona bested Real Betis 5-2, including a brace from Antoine Griezmann. That produced a Goals x Shirts spread of 875 against an opening spread of 184-211.
