Daily Spread Betting Round-up
Which team has scored the most goals in the past week?
Fulham became the first English team in 88 years to score at least six goals in three straight games with a 6-2 win over Birmingham City that sent them five points clear at the top of the Championship. After a Covid enforced break since they lost at home to Sheffield United just before Christmas, the Cottagers have now scored 19 goals in a week since resuming league action last Tuesday, when they won 7-0 at Reading. Last night Fulham won 6-2 – the same scoreline they beat Bristol City by on Saturday – thanks to two Fabio Carvalho goals and one each from Neeskens Kabano, Tom Cairney, Antonee Robinson plus a Marc Roberts own goal.
Total Goal Minutes x Corners (settled at 4510)
Since their enforced break, Fulham have played like a team possessed, and after 7-0 and 6-2 wins over the previous week, we saw buying in plenty of scoring markets. Our biggest winner on this match was a buyer of the Total Goal Minutes x Corners spread, which was set at 1425-1550. With 11 corners and Total Goal Minutes of 410, this market was settled at 4510, meaning buyers made a juicy profit of 2960 times their bet.
What happened in last night’s Scottish Premier League games?
Rangers saw their nine-match winning run ended by a battling Aberdeen who felt aggrieved not to have taken all three points from a controversial match. The champions are now four points clear of Celtic, while the Dons stay in 6th, though it could have been much different. Visiting keeper Allan McGregor looked to have given away a penalty when he caught Ryan Hedges in the 20th minute. Referee Kevin Clancy waved away Aberdeen appeals as Rangers quickly broke up the other end, where Ryan Kent bent in a ball that Ianis Hagi despatched to put the visitors ahead. Aberdeen were awarded a spot kick in the second half, which Lewis Ferguson scored to earn a share of the points, but manager Stephen Glass was left to rue that first half decision which he felt robbed his side of the win.
Cross-Bookings (settled at 2600)
In a blood and thunder match with the added spice of some refereeing controversy, buyers in the bookings markets were on the right side in this game. Bothe sides had four players booked before Ryan Kent was shown a second yellow and red with seven minutes remaining for a challenge on former Celtic skipper Scott Brown, who typically applauded his old adversary off the pitch. Cross-Bookings multiplies one team’s booking points by the other’s, with 10 points per yellow card and 25 per red. That meant 40 for the four Aberdeen yellows, and 65 for the four yellows and a red for Rangers, giving a Cross-Bookings total of 2600. The spread had been set at 600-690, so buyers made a profit of 1910 times their stake.
Have there been any shocks so far at AFCON?
Ghana were knocked out of AFCON after losing to minnows Comoros in one of the biggest shocks in AFCON history. Comoros, who went into the game having never scored a goal let alone won a game in this competition, enjoyed a shock 3-2 win that sees them in with a shout of qualifying for the next stage as one of the best third placed finishers. After a defeat and a draw to start the tournament, Ghana needed to win this game to have a change of progression, but started in the worst possible fashion, falling one goal behind after four minutes and one player behind after 25, when Andre Ayew was sent off. At least Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Leicester fans will be pleased that the likes of Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey and Daniel Amartey will be home sooner than expected to re-join the Premier League season.
Ahmed Mogni Super Mega Minutes (settled at 234)
The star of the show for Comoros was Ahmed Mogni, who scored twice, including the 85th minute winner. The island nation edged ahead through El Fardou Ben Nabouhane and then doubled that lead against the 10 men through Mogni in the 62nd minute. Dreams of a shock win looked like being short lived when two minutes later Richmond Boakye got one back for Ghana, and in the 77th minute the Black Stars were level through Alexander Djiku. Pegged back by the more experienced side, Comoros could be forgiven for folding, but Mogni was having none of that, and when Bendjaloud Youssouf cut the ball back five minutes from time, the man who plies his trade in the French third tier for Annecy made no mistake to seal a famous victory. The spread for Mogni’s Super Mega Minutes was set at 2.5-5, meaning buyers made a profit of 229 times their bet.
