Daily Spread Betting Round-up
What is the record number of consecutive games that Liverpool have scored in?
Liverpool set a new record by finding the net for the 32nd straight game as they came from behind to beat Newcastle 3-1 at Anfield. Newcastle, 25/1 outsiders to win, took a shock lead through former Reds midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, but two goals in four minutes from Diogo Jota and Mo Salah set Liverpool on their way to another win, putting them one point behind Manchester City. Salah’s goal meant he’s either scored or assisted in each of the past 15 games, equalling Jamie Vardy’s record. Struggling Newcastle gamely tried to get back into it, but Trent Alexander-Arnold pinged in a 25-yarder to make the game safe.
1st Newcastle Goal (settled at 7)
While Eddie Howe’s side face a relegation battle this season, it’s at the defensive end their real struggles lie, with Newcastle looking capable of scoring against anyone. Sure enough, they started this game on the front foot, and rewarded those who backed them to breach the Liverpool backline. The spread for the time of the 1st Newcastle Goal was set at 71.5-74.5, so when Shelvey curled home after just 7 minutes, sellers won 64.5 times their bet.
Are Chelsea keeping pace with in the title race?
The Blues have fallen further off the pace at the top of the table after a 1-1 draw against a patched up Everton team. With Manchester City and Liverpool both wining their midweek matches, Chelsea needed to shake off their recent indifferent form and take three points at home to an Everton team missing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison, Salomon Rondon, Andros Townsend and plenty more. Mason Mount broke Everton’s resistance and Chelsea would have expected to go on to win the match, but two Everton teenagers, Anthony Gordon and Jarrad Branthwaite, combined to produce an equaliser and Rafa Benetiz, back at his old club, let with a surprise point.
Mason Mount Goal Minutes (settled at 70)
As we told in yesterday’s blog, Mason Mount’s scoring run had caught punters’ attention, with plenty of money backing the England midfielder in various scoring markets as he looked to get on the scoresheet for the 4th straight game. His Super Mega spread, which doubles the goal minutes for any 2nd goal and trebles those of a 3rd, was set at 30-36, while his normal Goal Minutes spread was 18-21. Buyers of Mount Goal Minutes therefore made 49 times their stake as the 22 year old notched once again.
Are England fighting back in the 2nd Ashes Test?
It’s the same old story for England Down Under, as Australia piled on the runs this morning before removing England’s opening batsmen cheaply. Thankfully for Joe Root’s side, they were granted a temporary reprieve by a lightning storm that caused an early end to the day’s play with England wobbling at 17-2, 456 behind the Aussie total of 473-9 declared.
Fall of 3rd Wicket (settled at 241)
We told yesterday how patriotic punters were backing England to fight back as day 2 began with the Aussies 221 for 3 and Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith batting. We’d seen punters selling the Fall of 3rd Wicket spread, set at 272-277, and when Labuschagne was given lbw having passed his century but adding only 8 to his overnight 95, those sellers could collect 31 times their bet.
