How are the British teams doing in the Europa League?

West Ham, who have dominated their group, eased through to the knockouts with a game to spare thanks to a 2-0 win at Rapid Vienna, while Rangers beat Sparta Prague by the same score in Gio van Bronckhorst’s first game to guarantee they finish in second, meaning a two-legged playoff against a team dropping out of the Champions League. Celtic conceded two late goals to go down 3-2 at Bayer Leverkusen and are out, but Leicester went from bottom to top of their group thanks to a 3-1 win against Legia Warsaw. Patson Daka, James Maddison and Wilfred Ndidi scored in the first half to wrap up the points to put the Foxes top by a point from both Spartak Moscow and Napoli, with Legia a further point behind. Brendan Rodgers now faces the daunting task of taking his team to Serie A leaders Napoli in their final game, but at least their fate is in their own hands after last night’s performance.

Leicester v Legia Warsaw: Goals x Corners x Bookings (settled at 3000)

There was plenty of action both on and off the pitch at the King Power Stadium, where those buying the Goals x Corners x Bookings market made a tidy profit. As the visiting fans busied themselves throwing flares and battling the police, the players combined for 4 goals, 15 corners and 50 bookings points. The spread for this market was set at 1600-1775, so buyers won 1225 times their stake.

Are Spurs fans enjoying life under new boss Antonio Conte?

If Antonio Conte was under any illusions as to just how big a task he faces to turn this Tottenham Hotspur side into one that can mix it with the big boys, defeat at Slovenian minnows Mura in the Europa Conference League spelled it out for him last night. Spurs went down 2-1 thanks to a last-minute goal, but it was no more than the hosts deserved against 10-man Tottenham, for whom Harry Kane was one of only two players to keep their place from the weekend win against Leeds. Kane did get on the scoresheet and looked to have secure a point, but Amadej Marosa’s injury time effort now means second place in the group, and a two-legged playoff, is the most Spurs can hope for. Rennes are the visitors for the final game of Group G, having already secured top spot, while Vitesse Arnhem, on the same points as Conte’s team, host Mura.

Multi-Bookings (settled at 3250)

A bad tempered affair saw seven home players booked, but the real game changer was two of the three Spurs yellow cards going to Ryan Sessegnon in the first half hour. The England U-21 star’s first start since August lasted only 31 minutes, following up an early yellow for pulling an opponent back with a foolish lunge. Multi-Bookings, which multiplies first half booking points by second (10 for a yellow, 25 for a red) and was set at 310-390. This means buyers made a whopping 2900 times their stake.

Were there any shocks at the UK Championship snooker yesterday?

As the row over whether amateur players should even be allowed to play in this tournament rumbled on, reigning champion Neil Robertson became the latest player to lose to a part-timer, going down 6-2 to John Astley. Geordie Astley, who of course never gives up, or lets you down, fired in breaks of 74, 83 and 119 to reach the second round for the first time since 2013 and knock out Robertson, who after his recent English Open win was one of the form players coming into this tournament.

Astley Total Points (settled 525)

Robertson had come out in support of Shaun Murphy’s criticism of amateur players being allowed to compete right before he faced an amateur himself in Astley, and whether that fired up the Gateshead player or not, it certainly seemed to prompt some punters to get with the outsider. Astley’s Total Points spread was set at 231-256 before this game, meaning buyers made a profit of 269 times their stake.
