Daily Spread Betting Round-up
The headlines from the world of sport yesterday came largely in football boardrooms as clubs across Europe scrabbled to secure some last-minute signings. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria joined Chelsea, Arthur joined Liverpool, Forest secured signing numbers 19, 20 and 21, and Leeds signed Italian international Willy Gnonto with Dan James joining Fulham on loan.
Away from the business there was some sporting action yesterday as Juliet Sierra landed the Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury and Lady Hollywood landed Group 3 success at Longchamp.
There was also action from the Premier League, US Open, and the Caribbean Premier League as we run our eyes over yesterday’s big winning bets.
Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.
LEICESTER CITY v MANCHESTER UNITED – CORNERS SQUARED (SETTLED AT 16)
Away from the wheeling and dealing taking place up and down the country yesterday, there was an actual top-flight match to get stuck into as Manchester United made it three wins on the bounce with a 1-0 success at Leicester.
It was far from an accomplished performance, but Jadon Sancho’s first-half opener after he rounded the helpless Danny Ward was enough for the Red Devils.
There is certainly trouble behind the scenes at the King Power Stadium, and although the Foxes rallied in the second 45, they were unable to carve open a particularly good chance as both sides registered just four shots on target between them.
That total equalled the number of corners in the match, with the hosts winning just one as corners squared settled at a meagre 16. At kick-off, this spread was 113-124 as sellers landed a win of 97x their stake.
BEZIERS v STADE MONTOIS – BEZIERS/STADE MONTOIS TRY MINUTES SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT -154)
It has been a while since rugby union last featured in the blog and we thought we would take a trip down through France to the picturesque town of Beziers where the local side welcomed Stade Montois in the Pro D2.
The visitors took the lead in the 5th minute through a penalty, but the hosts quickly clicked into gear as they took a 16-3 lead at the break with Jean-Baptiste Barrere grabbing the only try of the first half.
Beziers extended their lead in the second half when Clement Esteriola scored a try in the 50th minute and they cruised out to a 26-3 lead. From there, things took an interesting turn.
First, Stade Montois were awarded a penalty try in the 74th minute. Three minutes later Max Curie added another try and Martin Doan scored a third after the hooter which left the scoreline 26-24. The late comeback was not quite enough for Les Abeilles (The Bees), but it was a delight for sellers on the Try Minutes Supremacy spread.
Beziers, two tries added up to 77 minutes, but with the late flurry from Stade Montois adding up to 231, the spread was left to settle at -154 (Beziers were the favourites, hence the negative make-up). Ahead of the match at the Stade Raoul-Barrière, the spread was 14-31 as sellers won 168x their stake.
SUHR AARAU v WACKER THUN – MATCH CROSS-GOALS (SETTLED AT 1120)
Sandwiched between the Ukrainian Superleague and the Norwegian 1000-ligaen, you will find the Swiss Handball League in the European Handball Federation coefficients. Despite being a country more renowned for big banks, alpine sports and Toblerone there is a thriving handball scene in the country and last night Wacker Thun travelled to Suhr Aarau for their opening clash of the season.
The hosts were -1.5 on the fixed odds handicap ahead of play and despite trailing in the first half, they rallied to take a 23-17 lead into the break. Any travelling fans to the Sporthalle Schachen would have been hoping for a comeback but they met stiff resistance from Janis Scheidiger in the hosts’ net with the young goalkeeper being named man of the match.
At the other end, Aarau were having no trouble hitting the back of the net and they eventually powered their way to a 40-28 win. With this match failing to be the close affair that was expected there was some profit to be made for buyers on the Cross-Goals market which was 624-675 before the match.
With 40 goals for the hosts and 28 for Thun, the spread settled at 1120 as buyers celebrated a win of 445x their stake.
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
