What is Leeds United’s record Premier League defeat?

Leeds suffered their worst ever Premier League defeat last night as rampant Manchester City battered them 7-0. It was their joint-record worst top division showing, matching an 8-1 loss to Stoke in 1934, 7-0 to West Ham in 1966 and 7-0 to Arsenal in 1979. City enjoyed their joint second-largest top flight win, second only to the 8-0 thrashing of Watford two years ago. City were at their best with goals coming from all round the pitch – six different players got on the scoresheet, with Kevn de Bruyne, looking ominously back to his best, the only one to score twice. Phil Foden opened the scoring before Jack Grealish and De Bruyne’s first saw City three up at the break. Riyad Mahrez and De Bruyne again put the game to bed by the hour mark, and defenders John Stones and Nathan Ake rounded off a clinical showing that puts City four points clear at the top of the Premier League, and Leeds nervously looking over their shoulders just outside the relegation zone.

Total Goal Minutes (settled at 316)

City have threatened to give someone a good thrashing plenty of times of late, and their lack of a recognised striker has often been cited as the reason they haven’t made more of their chances. Last night they were clinical, and buyers of Total Goal Minutes got the returns they’d possibly been expecting at some point given how many chances this team creates. The spread was set at 192-207, so buyers made 109 times their bet.

Did Norwich boss Dean Smith manage to get one over on his old Aston Villa team?

Aston Villa maintained their upturn in form since Dean Smith was sacked and Steven Gerrard took over with a 2-0 win at Norwich, Smith’s new club. Jacob Ramsey and ollie Watkins scored the goals that made it four win in six since Gerrard took over from Smith, who was sacked following five straight defeats. Smith started with a win and two draws in his first three games in charge of the Canaries, but worryingly it’s now three straight defeats, all without scoring a goal.

Ollie Watkins Player Goal Minutes (settled at 87)

England striker Watkins is enjoying life under Gerrard, and scored his third goal in six games under the new boss to seal this win. The spread for Watkins’ Player Goal Minutes was set at 22-25, and while he only grabbed one goal, it was late enough to ensure buyers locked in a decent profit, winning 62 times their stake.

Were there any shocks in the snooker’s World Grand Prix?

John Higgins may not be winning many titles but he’s consistently been making finals this season. Not the World Grand Prix though, as Higgins went out in the opening round against Tom Ford at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry yesterday. Having finished second again last week in the Scottish Open, his 4th runner-up finish of the year, Higgins came into this tournament as one of the favourites, but even after getting level at 2-2, he couldn’t get past the impressive Ford, who sealed the 4-2 win with a 130 break in the 6th frame.

Points Supremacy Ford/Higgins (settled at 190)

With Higgins starting out as favourite, those siding with Ford in the Points Supremacy market would have been sellers at the 68-98 spread. Ford’s fantastic performance, with the 130 clearance to seal the last 16 place, saw him outscore the Scot by 190, giving a total Points Supremacy of 258 to those that sold Higgins.
