Daily Spread Betting Round-up

Top 3 winning bets from Tuesday's racing & tennis

Who impressed in Tuesday’s horse racing?

Nobody could get the better of Bryony Frost at Hereford yesterday, with two wins from two rides. In fact, she must be wondering why she didn’t have more as both Le Chiffre Dor, the 1/3F in the 12.52, and 2/1 Switch Hitter in the 2.52, did the business for her, and punters following her.

Bryony Frost Super Mega Jockey Performance (settled at 75)

Bryony has two short price rides at Hereford, and there was plenty of ways of backing them if you felt like they’d both perform well, and the Super Mega Jockey Performance proved a popular method. This market awards 25 points for winning a race (with 10 for 2nd and 5 for 3rd) and doubles the points for a 2nd win. The spread was set at 46.5-48.5, so buyers copped the maximum return given she only had two rides, making 26.5 times their bet.

How did Andy Murray get on in the Stockholm Open

The former world number 1 is safely through to today’s 2nd round after beating Norwegian qualifier Viktor Durasovic 6-1 7-6 in their round one encounter in Sweden. Murray quickly raced to a 4-0 lead, and while 354th ranked Durasovic made more of a game of it in the second set, it was a comfortable day at the office for the Scot. Murray faces top seed and world number 10 Jannik Sinner in the 2nd round.

X-Courts (settled at 48)

Durasovic is a bit of an unknown, so buyers of the pre-match X-Courts spread of 41-46 were taking a bit of a leap of faith that the qualifier wouldn’t freeze on the big occasion. This market is made up of the aggregate of multiplying the game scores in each set together, so as Murray raced into a 4-0 lead, it looked like the make-up from the first set could be the dreaded (for buyers at least) zero. As it was, Durasovic managed to get one game on the board, which still left buyers looking at a big loss. If he repeated that in the second set, the final make-up would be 12 and buyers would lose 34 times their stake. However, the young Norwegian broke back to make it 3-3 in the 2nd set and battled all the way to a tie-break. While he couldn’t win it – it was a close-run thing at 9-7 – to send X-Courts buyers into dreamland given where they’d come from, he did do enough to ensure the 2nd set counted for 42 in this market and give a final settlement of 48, good for buyers to win double their stake.

Is Emma Raducanu in action this week too?

The US Open champ’s season came to a premature end when she was beaten in her opening match at the Upper Austria Ladies event in Linz. Given a bye to the 2nd round as the top seed, Raducanu was quickly a set down, losing the opener 6-1 to China’s Wang Xinyu. She found her feet in a tight 2nd set, and after a resounding 7-0 win in the tie-break, went favourite. It was nip and tuck in the decider, still on serve at 4-4, when the 18-year-old Brit suffered an injury. She carried on after treatment, and was broken for 5-4 before breaking straight back having saved two match points. But Wang broke again and Raducanu needed more treatment before the world number 106 closed it out for a 6-1 6-7 7-5 victory.

Total Points (settled at 205)

Raducanu was expected to make short work of Wang, going into this match as 4/9 favourite. While there’s little doubt Emma hasn’t hit the heights of her fantastic play at Flushing Meadows – ending her season with three defeats in four matches – it should be said that Wang played way above her ranking in this match too. The Total Points spread was set at 148-153 pre-match, meaning buyers won 52 times their bet.
