Daily Spread Betting Round-up

Top 3 winning bets on Monday's racing, Italian football & NFL

What was the highlight of Monday’s horse racing action?

Hollie Doyle was the star of the show at Chelmsford yesterday, landing a late treble by winning the final three races of the day. After starting the day with a 2nd on 15/2 shot Shurut and 3rd on 8/1 Golden Whisper, Hollie landed the Support The Injured Jockeys Fund Handicap on 15/2 Champagne Supernova, before following that up with Berrahri in the next, also at 15/2, and rounding off a great day with 8/11 shot Peripeteia landing the last.

Hollie Doyle Super Mega Jockey Performance (settled at 165)

The Jockey Performance spread awards points for finishing in the top 3 in each race, with 25 for 1st, 10 for 2nd and 5 for 3rd. The Super Mega market uses the same points, but a second win receives double points (50) and a third gets treble (75). Hollie’s SM Jockey Performance spread was set at 57-60 before the first race, meaning buyers won a tasty 105 times their stake.

What happened in Monday’s football action?

With the Championship game between Sheffield United and QPR called off because of Covid, football fans turned to Serie A to get their Monday night fix. They saw former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling score the opener as Roma eased to a 2-0 win over Spezia to move into Serie A’s top six. Jose Mourinho’s side had suffered back to back defeats, but Smalling and Roger Ibanez grabbed the goals to send them above Juventus. Former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham hit the crossbar as Spezia stayed one place above the relegation zone.

Roma Leading Minutes (settled at 84)

Despite back to back losses, Roma were well fancied to see off lowly Spezia, and so it proved, with a couple of England internationals to the fore. Chris Smalling converted following Tammy Abraham’s header after just six minutes, and Mourinho’s men never looked back. Before the game, Roma's Leading Minutes was set at 39-42, so Smalling’s early goal was key to buyers winning 42 times their bet.

What happened in the NFL Monday Night Football?

The LA Rams sprang a shock by beating the Cardinals in Arizona despite being without a number of key players through Covid. Having lost three of their previous four games, and with cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Tyler Higbee forced to head back to LA after producing positive tests, the Rams looked like lambs to the slaughter against the division leading Cards. But Arizona’s home woes struck again as LA moved just a game behind them in the NFC West, splitting the season series, with a 30-23 win. Arizona are a perfect 7-0 away from State Farm Stadium but fell to 3-3 at home for a 10-3 record this season. The Rams improved to 9-4.

James Conner Super Mega TD Minutes (settled at 121)

Despite his team’s defeat, James Conner became the first player in more than 60 years to score a touchdown in seven straight games for Arizona last night. As we told in yesterday’s blog, Conner was hoping to match the record of John David Crow (1959-60) having scored in six straight going into Monday Night Football, and the star running back grabbed his moment late in the second quarter, joining Crow and Mal Kutner (1947-48) in the record books. Conner’s exploits had seen some buying of his Super Mega TD Minutes spread, set at 43-53, which doubles the minutes of any second TD and trebles those of a third, and when he went over again in the 4th quarter, buyers rejoiced. Those who bought Conner’s Super Mega TD Minutes made a profit of 68 times their stake. Conner will fancy his chances of breaking the record against the 1-11-1 Detroit Lions in week 15.
