Another exciting weekend of sporting action is ahead of us with plenty for sports betting punters to sink their teeth into, including the 2024 Australian Open getting underway down under in the early hours of Sunday. There is also plenty of football from the Premier League, Championship and more.

Meanwhile, in other sport, the Masters snooker continues from 'Ally Pally' as Ronnie O'Sullivan takes on Shaun Murphy in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Online betting punters had opportunities for plenty of potential profits and, as always, we look at some of the best bets and spread betting winners from Wednesday and Thursday in our Big Winners roundup.

Make sure you don't miss any of the action and keep an eye out for our pre-match and in-play price boosts on the website or our betting app, which you can download in the App Store or Google Play store.

REAL MADRID V ATLETICO MADRID - MULTI-BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 0)

We start with the football betting action from midweek and a quite extraordinary Madrid derby, where Real came away with a 5-3 victory after extra-time in a frenetic game that finished 3-3 in regulation time.

There were four goals in the first 37 minutes alone, with Atletico taking an early lead before falling 2-1 behind and then drawing level. The second half was a tighter affair and after an own goal from Real defender Antonio Rudiger, it came down to right back Dani Carvajal to draw Los Blancos level and send the match into extra time, in which two very late goals broke Atletico hearts and secured the win.

For football spread betting punters, selling on the Multi-Bookings market proved to be a shrewd choice. Highly unusual for a normally ill-tempered match-up, there were no bookings for either side in the regulation 90 minutes. This meant a make-up of 0 from a starting spread of 675 - 795, which meant a profit of 675x punters' opening sell stake!

BEN SHELTON V TARO DANIEL SET BETTING - DANIEL 2-0 (SETTLED AT 100)

Tennis betting punters don't have long to wait for the first Grand Slam of the season which begins on Sunday in Melbourne, but the deciding stages of the pre-Australian Open warm-up events are taking place and one of these matches was a semi-final in Auckland, New Zealand between the exuberant young American talent Ben Shelton and seasoned Japanese campaigner Taro Daniel.

With Daniel only reaching one ATP final in his career previously and that coming way back in 2018, it was expected by most that top seed Shelton would march into the final without much trouble. The early stages of the first set did nothing to disprove those expectations, as Daniel had to fend off several dangerous moments to stay alive. However, at 5-5, a sloppy game from Shelton let Daniel grab an unlikely break of serve which he then managed to consolidate and secure the opening set.

Not to be deterred, the second set was extremely tight and went even longer - reaching a tie-break. While Shelton seemed on course to win it, Daniel produced some incredibly solid tennis to fend off the American's efforts and secure a highly surprising straight sets win. For tennis spread betting punters, buying on the Daniel 2-0 Set Betting spread proved a highly profitable decision. With the final make-up at 100 from a starting spread of 12.5 - 16.5, this meant a return of 83.5x punters' initial buy stake.

MARK SELBY V ROBERT MILKINS - POINTS SUPREMACY SELBY/MILKINS (SETTLED AT 447)

And finally, we end with snooker betting action from the Masters where an imperious performance from Mark Selby proved highly profitable for savvy bettors.

The three-time champion was in great form as he brushed Robert Milkins aside by a score of six frames to one, making breaks of 119, 53, 63, 70 and 74, and setting up a quarter-final with Mark Allen on Friday night.

Spread betting punters opting to place a buy bet on the Selby/Milkins Points market were rewarded for that profitable decision. With the market settling at 447 from a spread of 140 - 180, buying punters made 267x their opening stakes!
