Manchester United qualified for the Champions League last night with a crushing 4-1 win at home over a Chelsea side that can’t wait for the season to be over. North of the border, Hibernian set up a final day decider for European football with arch enemies Hearts after they beat Celtic at Easter Road.

England’s Harry Hall leads the Charles Schwab Challenge after the world 197 carded a score of eight-under-par and we have had rugby league, T20 Blast and the English Greyhound Derby heats to enjoy over these last few days. Read on to find out where canny punters pocketed a profit from Wednesday and Thursday.

HULL KR v WIGAN WARRIORS – WIGAN KICKING METRES (SETTLED AT 31)

The 13th round of the Super League got underway with a bang last night as Hull KR and Wigan played out a thriller at Craven Park. The sides headed into the match as second and third in the table and it was as tight as expected with a last minute try for Abbas Miski forcing golden point after the sides were locked at 22-22.

Wigan ultimately secured the two points after Liam Farrell crossed in extra time following a break from Bevan French, but they could have made it a lot easier for themselves if Harry Smith had brought his kicking boots. The young half struggled from the tee against Leeds last weekend and anyone who saw that performance would have fancied a sell on Wigan Kicking Metres at 68-75.

Smith boasts a conversion success rate of under 70% and he managed only one from five last night, with the spread settling at 31 and sellers winning 37x their stake.

TOWCESTER 25TH MAY 20:26 – RIOJA JOEY 50-25-10 (SETTLED AT 0)

The English Greyhound Derby is back and last night saw the starting pistol fired on six weeks of frenetic action as 192 dogs will be whittled down to just one winner who will collect a cool £175,000.

The early heats saw plenty of the favourites progressing through to the next round, but there was a boil-over in the seventh qualifier as hot favourite Rioja Joey could only muster a finishing position of fifth and last.

Named after former Oxford United legend Joey Beauchamp who sadly passed away last year, Rioja Joey was sent off the 4/9 favourite and was priced at 37-40 in our 50-25-10 market but failed to make much of an impact as sellers came away with a healthy win of 37x their stake.

SOMERSET v HAMPSHIRE – HAMPSHIRE HAWKS RUNS (SETTLED AT 74)

With the first block of County Championship fixtures out of the way, the T20 Blast can take centre stage and there have been some blowout scores in the early stages, not least Somerset’s thumping of Hampshire at Taunton.

The Hawks batted first but offered very little resistance to the Somerset bowling attack which wilted to a score of 74-all out in the 17th over. Craig Overton and Ben Green both took three wickets for the hosts with Matt Henry and captain Lewis Gregory taking two apiece as they started their season with a bang.

Before the Hawks started their collapse, the Hampshire Total Runs spread was set at 181-187 as sellers scored a win of 107x their stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
