Daily Spread Betting Round-up
Wednesday night was again full of football action with the second batch of Champions League matches with Chelsea getting their campaign up and running with a win against AC Milan, Erling Haaland grabbing only the two goals this time as Man City put Copenhagen to the sword, and more Championship fixtures as West Brom’s season took a turn for the worse and Burnley drew for the seventh time in twelve matches.
Amongst the other sport, there was Premiership Rugby Cup action as Northampton Saints defeated Saracens, and Australia grabbed a narrow three-run victory over West Indies in the Twenty20 International.
As always, we have looked at the market make-ups and picked out three big winning spread bets from savvy punters.
Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.
MAN CITY V COPENHAGEN – MAN CITY TO WIN BY 3+, HAALAND TO SCORE 2+ (SETTLED AT 100)
After their demolition of city rivals United on Sunday, it was once again goals galore at the Etihad as Man City continued their perfect form in the Champions League group stages with a 5-0 win over Danish visitors Copenhagen.
With star striker Erling Haaland having scored three consecutive hat tricks at City’s home ground, it is becoming almost a given that the Norwegian will get on the scoresheet. Indeed, after he scored twice in the first half, many were expecting that hat trick streak to stretch to four.
It wasn’t to be though, and Haaland did not manage to add to his goal tally in the second half due to being substituted at half-time. However, his teammates took that mantle competently and the ultimate 5-0 result meant that punters who decided to buy on the Man City to Win by 3 or more & Erling Haaland to Score 2 or More spread of 33.30 – 40.90 would have been celebrating a 59.10x return on their opening wager due to the 100 binary make-up.
PRESTON V WEST BROM – TOTAL GOAL MINUTES (SETTLED AT 7)
In a match-up featuring two sides with seven draws each already this season, and the league’s lowest scorers (by far) in Preston, savvy punters may well have been able to predict this one being likely to be on the lower side of the excitement spectrum – and in terms of goals scored.
Indeed, the match was decided by a solitary goal as the home side found the net in just the seventh minute through Emil Riis, with the struggling Baggies unable to find a response although dominating the majority of the match. Preston, as a result, have moved up to 11th in the table, while West Brom are down in 22nd and will need to get back on track quickly if they are to rescue their season and any hopes of promotion.
With the single early goal, punters who sold on the Total Goal Minutes spread will have been pleased with their choice, as a pre-match spread of 118 – 128 meant a 111x return on their stake!
NORTHAMPTON SAINTS V SARACENS – TOTAL TRY MINUTES (SETTLED AT 598)
And finally, in the Premiership Rugby Cup action, Northampton scored a hugely dominant and high-scoring 58-34 victory over Saracens. All in all, the match saw an impressive 15 tries and 92 points shared!
Samson Adejimi scored four tries for the visitors while Springbok Courtnall Skosan bagged a hat-trick for Saints.
In terms of profitable markets, the Total Try Minutes market settled at 598, meaning punters who decided to buy at the pre-match spread of 353 – 374 would have bagged a meaty 224x return on their stake!
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
