landing-page-weekend-010724

After another weekend of dramatic sporting action, as always in our daily betting blog we run through the big spread betting winners from the weekend!

Some of the key action came from the latest matches at Euro 2024 as England pulled off an epic comeback to reach the quarter-finals, England won the World Cup of Darts, and India secured overall victory in the T20 cricket World Cup.

Here we run through some of those big winning spread bets.

EURO 2024: ENGLAND v SLOVAKIA – JUDE BELLINGHAM PGMs (SETTLED AT 90)

We start with the football betting action from Euro 2024 and England escaped an embarrassing exit and upset of massive proportions as they somehow survived against Slovakia to claw their way into the quarter-finals, and predictably the Three Lions once again had to thank their young talisman Jude Bellingham.

In what was an extremely lacklustre performance from Gareth Southgate's men - as has been the trend throughout the tournament - the unfancied Slovaks seemed to have secured a famous victory and kept the pre-tournament favourites at bay as they led 1-0 going into the fifth of six additional minutes at the end of the ninety.

It was in that moment that Bellingham took the stage for his own moment of magic as a wonderful overhead kick after a long throw-in into the box nestled into the corner of the net, sending England fans into raptures and the game into extra-time. Incredibly, it was England's first shot on target in the whole match.

The Three Lions took advantage of the huge momentum shift as Harry Kane's quickfire goal in the extra period was enough for a 2-1 win, but for football spread bettors, those deciding to place a buy bet on the Bellingham Player Goal Minutes market proved to be profitable. Settling at 90 from a starting spread of 12 - 15, buyers returned 75x their initial wager.

WORLD CUP OF DARTS OUTRIGHT WINNER - ENGLAND (SETTLED AT 60)

Next we move to the darts action and more success for England in Germany as they secured the World Cup of Darts trophy with a final victory over Austria at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt.

The dream team of Luke Humphries and Michael Smith secured a record-breaking fifth title and first since 2016. England had earlier beaten Northern Ireland 8-4 in the quarter-finals and Scotland by the same score in the last four, and in truth were dominant throughout with no team getting within 4 legs.

Spread betting punters who anticipated England's outright success and placed a buy bet on the England Outright Winner market at an opening spread of 37.5 - 40.5 saw a make-up of 60 and a return of 19.5x their stake. Bullseye!

T20 WORLD CUP FINAL: INDIA V SOUTH AFRICA - LAUNCH! (SETTLED AT 1,824)

And finally, we finish with the weekend's cricket action as india secured the crown in the T20 World Cup final with a hard-fought win against South Africa in a highly dramatic and exciting final in Barbados.

In what is their their second T20 World Cup title and first since 2007, it all came down to an astounding catch from Suryakumar Yadav and excellent bowling clinched a heart-pounding seven-run victory for the Indians.

In terms of spread betting, punters who decided to place a buy bet on the Launch! market made good profit. With the starting spread at 1,425 - 1,525, a final make-up of 1,824 meant a return of 299x their opening stake!
