Daily Spread Betting Round-up

Monday's Big Winning Bets

Monday night was a relatively quiet one in terms of world sport, but there was still a fair amount for punters to get their teeth into with football action including Sunderland taking on Middlesbrough and matches from the Serie A and La Liga, and the continuation of the US Open tennis continuing to produce more excitement, including a shock result with Rafael Nadal dumped out by American Frances Tiafoe.

In the other sport, there was the usual racing action from across the UK and Ireland, while the basketball EuroBasket tournament continued with one notable shock result.

As usual, we look at three big winning spread bets bringing savvy punters joy on Monday.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

MIDDLESBROUGH V SUNDERLAND – MULTI-BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 900)

It was a disappointing outing for the Black Cats on the road at Middlesbrough as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Riverside. Although the away side dominated the possession, it was a moment of brilliance from Boro’s Riley McGree that decided the outcome.

In terms of spread betting, the Multi-Bookings market (first half bookings multiplied by second half bookings) was where huge profit was on offer. With 30 booking points in each half (three yellow cards in both), the market made up at 900.

For punters, those who bought on the opening spread of the market at 275 - 355 would have been ecstatic with the final make-up, meaning a 545x return on their opening stake.

NADAL V TIAFOE -  SET 2 CROSS POINTS (SETTLED AT 667)

In one of (if not the) biggest upsets in this year’s US Open, home hope Frances Tiafoe dumped out title favourite Rafael Nadal, who was on course to continue his push for a third Grand Slam of the season. The mercurial American talent has always shown lots of potential and exciting game full of power and shot-making, but few predicted he had much chance against the great Spaniard here due to his lack of consistency and occasional mental fragility.

However, the biggest profit on offer in this match was not on the match results, but on our Set Cross-Points market. This market is calculated by taking Player A’s won points in a set, multiplied by Player B’s won points. With Nadal winning set two and the majority of games seeing both players hold serve to love, there were fewer points than usually expected, which led to a far lower make-up than the opening spread.

For punters who sold on the aforementioned opening spread of 988 – 1063, the 667 makeup meant that they would be left with a huge 321x return on their opening wager!

UKRAINE V ITALY  – UKRAINE TO WIN (SETTLED AT 100)

In the 2022 EuroBasket championship, the third round of fixtures in the group stages continued, with the standout result of the night coming in Group C. While the GB team fell to a defeat to Greece (who made it three wins from three), Ukraine also joined the Greeks with a 100% winning record as they secured an upset victory over the Italians to grab top spot in the group.

Although Italy seemed in control and led the match after the first two quarters 42-38, the Ukrainians turned the tide to dominate the next two and complete an 84-73 victory.

For punters, those buying the underdogs on the spreads would have been celebrating an 80x return on their opening wager, with the pre-match spread on a Ukraine win stood at 12.5 – 20.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
