WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?

The Six Nations got underway this weekend with wins for Scotland, Ireland, and France whilst in the Premier League, both Manchester City and Arsenal tasted defeat. At the bottom end of the table, wins for Leicester City, Everton, and Wolves pulled Leeds closer to the drop having been beaten by rivals Nottingham Forest.

Across the Irish Sea, the Dublin Racing Festival has been thrilling viewers and punters alike, with there now just five weeks to go before the Cheltenham Festival.

After a weekend that has entertained whichever way you looked, we have picked out three big winning spread bets from the last few days.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

ASTON VILLA v LEICESTER – FIRST HALF GOALS (SETTLED AT 5)

A topsy-turvy clash played itself out at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon as Leicester City put further distance between themselves and the bottom three with a thrilling 4-2 victory over their hosts.

Ollie Watkins put Villa in front in the 9th minute, but three minutes later they had been pegged back thanks to a fit again James Maddison. A Harry Souttar own goal midway through the first half nudged Unai Emery’s side back in front but two goals late in the half, from Kelechi Iheanacho and Tete, sent the Foxes into the break 3-2 up.

Before kick-off at Villa Park, the spread on First Half Goals was 1.05-1.2 with buyers celebrating the half time whistle buy collecting a win of 3.8x their stake.

ENGLAND v SCOTLAND – SCOTLAND SCRABBLED SHIRTS (SETTLED AT 95)

England may well have had a new man overseeing things, but England’s first game against Scotland went the same way as their last two under Eddie Jones; with the men from north of the border celebrating victory. Huw Jones (scrabble score of 8) opened the scoring for Scotland after running onto a kick from Sione Tuipulotu with Duhan van der Merwe (29) also scoring a sensational first half try.

England remained in front after Ellis Genge and Ben White (16) traded tries, but the stage was set for a hero and South African-born van der Merwe came up with the goods to give the Scots a famous victory.

It was also a good day for buyers who had bought Scrabbled Shirts at 44-50 and whilst they didn’t get their hands on the Calcutta Cup, they did win 45x their stake.

ZIMBABWE v WEST INDIES – 1ST WEST INDIES WICKET (SETTLED AT 336)

Zimbabwe’s first Test since a one-off affair with Bangladesh in the summer of 2021 has got off to an inauspicious start with West Indies still occupying the crease on day three. Openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul put on 336 runs in a sublime first innings partnership that lasted for nearly eight hours.

Eventually, Zimbabwe got their breakthrough after Wellington Masakadza trapped Brathwaite for LBW, but it promises to be a long series for the Zimbabweans based off what we have seen so far. Buyers however will be hoping for more of the same and those who had bought Windies 1ST Wicket at 43-48 would have been roaring every run as they collected a win of 288x their stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
