WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

It was another exciting weekend as Manchester United and Celtic claimed domestic silverware whilst Leeds United managed their first league win since Bonfire Night as they beat Southampton in Javi Gracia’s first match in charge.

The second round of Super League matches threw up some intriguing scorelines whilst in the 15-man code, the Grand Slam remains a possibility for Ireland after they won 34-20 in Italy.

Finally in boxing, as much as you may have tried to avoid it, there was an eight-round bout in Diriyah that captured the attention of the world.

As the dust settles on a bumper weekend of sport, we bring you three big winning spread bets from the last few days.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

WIGAN WARRIORS v WAKEFIELD TRINITY – WIGAN MULTI-POINTS (SETTLED AT 884)

There were plenty of big winning spread bets on Friday night as Wigan bounced back from an opening weekend defeat against Hull KR to comprehensively beat Wakefield at the DW Stadium. With the Warriors running out 60-0 winners, siding with the hosts would have been profitable in the Match Supremacy, Wigan Points, Wigan Shirts, and Wigan Hotshots markets.

However, we have focused on Wigan Multi-Points (Wigan’s first half total multiplied by their second half points) which settled at 884 against a pre-match spread of 286-320. The hosts led 34-0 at the break and didn’t let up in the second half with Liam Marshall scoring four and Bevan French helping himself to a brace as buyers won 564x their original stake.

MANCHESTER UNITED v NEWCASTLE UNITED – MULTI-BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 1800)

A similar market to the Wigan match copped for buyers at Wembley as Manchester United prolonged Newcastle’s 55-year major trophy drought. Toon were undone by two goals in the space of six first half minutes as Casemiro and Marcus Rashford helped deliver the first trophy of Erik ten Hag’s reign at Old Trafford.

The game wasn’t exactly a thrilling spectacle and a scrappy match saw David Coote book nine players, with Diogo Dalot, Fred and Joelinton seeing yellow in the first half. Sven Botman, David de Gea, Casemiro, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Fabian Schar also made their way into the book as the game made its way to a bad-tempered conclusion.

With 30 booking points doled out in the first half and 60 in the second Multi-Bookings made up at 1800. Before kick-off in the capital, the spread was 345-425 as buyers landed a whopping Wembley win of 1375x their original stake.

JAKE PAUL v TOMMY FURY – TOTAL FIGHT MINUTES (SETTLED AT 24)

Say what you like about Jake Paul, but one thing he excels at is selling his own personal brand and there won’t be many bigger boxing betting events this year than last night’s eight round clash with Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia.

With millions matched on the exchanges and plenty more staked with bookies across the world, Tommy Fury appeared to be cruising to victory as he outboxed his game but limited opponent heading into the eighth round. That all changed however, when Paul scored a knockdown that owed as much to Fury slipping as it did to a concussive punch from the Ohio native, but hearts would have been in mouths amongst the travelling Fury contingent.

Thankfully for them, the Englishman was given the win via split decision with the fight going all the way a result for buyers on the Fight Minutes spread which was 17.1-18.1 before the opening bell. With the spread settling at 24, buyers won 5.9x their original stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
