Weekend's Big Winning Bets

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?

The Grand National was the main betting highlight of the weekend and a race that will live long in the memory was won by Corach Rambler who came home ahead of Vanillier, Gaillard Du Mesnil, and last year’s winner Noble Yeats.

Elsewhere, Arsenal dropped points on the road to West Ham and whilst they are still top of the league, they have drifted out to 7/4 to get their first Premier League trophy since the Arsene Wenger era was at its peak.

Sellers on Wakefield Trinity Multi-Points were in clover yet again this season as they went down 32-0 to Leigh Leopards in Super League and in the Premiership, Leicester rewarded supremacy buyers with a big win over Exeter.

Neither of those make our list for the big winning bets from the weekend which features action from Aintree, The Riverside, and the squared circle.

THE GRAND NATIONAL – CORACH RAMBLER 100-60-30-20-10-5 INDEX (SETTLED AT 99.8)

It was an eventful Grand National to say the least with protests delaying the start and an unusually high number of horses falling or unseating their rider. One that managed to last the distance however was Corach Rambler who backed up success at the Cheltenham Festival with a win in the big race at Aintree.

The Scotland-based superstar was given 99.8 points on our extended race index market (reduced from 100 due to the withdrawal of Escaria Ten) and with a pre-race spread of 16-19, buyers came away with a win of 80.8x their initial stake.

MIDDLESBROUGH v NORWICH CITY – 1st HALF GOALS (SETTLED AT 5)

One of our Championship partner clubs was on the wrong end of a hammering on Friday night as Norwich went down 5-1 to Middlesbrough at the Riverside.

Aaron Ramsey scored a tap-in against his former side as Boro took the lead in the 7th minute and the Teessiders doubled their advantage after 40 minutes when Hayden Hackney slammed home a half volley.

Hackney’s strike would be the first goal of four in a ten-minute spell with Cameron Archer netting a double for Boro with just a solitary reply from Norwich who scored through USA international Josh Sargent.

Before kick-off in the north east, the 1st Half Goals spread was 1.2-1.35 but thanks to the flurry of goals before half time, the market settled at 5 and buyers won 3.65x their initial stake.

JOE JOYCE v ZHILEI ZHANG – JOYCE/ZHANG 10-3 (SETTLED AT -31)

Two big sluggers went into the ring on Saturday night as Olympian Joe Joyce tested his mettle against Chinese opponent Zhilei Zhang. Last seen fighting on the undercard of Usyk v Joshua in Jeddah, few people gave Zhang a chance with Joe Joyce a 1/6 shot on our fixed odds market.

In the 10-3 market (10 points for the fight winner, 3 points for every round remaining including the round of the stoppage), Joyce was favoured with a spread of 19-22 in his favour. From the early stages, the Chinese boxer found a home for his left jab and Joyce was on unsteady legs in the early proceedings before the fight was eventually waved off by Howard Foster in the sixth round due to damage to the Briton’s eye.

With six full rounds remaining in the fight, plus the round of the stoppage and including the ten point win bonus, meant that the spread settled at -31 with shrewd sellers coming away with a win of 50x their initial stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
