Daily Spread Betting Round-up

What were the big winning bets in Tuesday's Racing, IPL, Darts and Football?

Who was the star jockey at yesterday’s horse racing at Brighton?

After the meeting at Brighton survived an inspection, David Probert went to work, landing a 33-1 treble. He partnered Baileysgutfeeling, the 8/11 favourite in the 13.30, to victory, and won the next race too on 4/1 shot Pitchcombe. Probert completed his treble in the penultimate race, 3/1 shot Wisper winning the 15.50.

Jockey Performance SM David Probert (settled at 155)

Probert is enjoying his best-ever season, and while fixed odds punters could have landed a 33/1 treble, buying his Performance, which awards 25 points for a win, 10 for 2nd and 5 for 3rd, or his Super Mega Performance, which awards the same points but doubles the points for a second win and trebles those for a third. Buyers of Probert’s Performance (43-46) won 34 times their stake, while buyers of his Performance SM (61-65) won 90 times theirs.

What happened in the big IPL clash between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians?

The champions are refusing to give up their title without a fight. Mumbai Indians put on arguably their best performance of the season as they thrashed Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets. The Royals, who drop to 7th and are now all but out of play-off contention, managed only 90-9 in their 20 overs, Nathan Counter-Nile (4-14) and Jimmy Neesham (3-12) starring with the ball. Mumbai knocked the runs off in 8.2 overs. They play Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday in their final group game, another must win for the Indians, who also need other results to go their way to make the top 4.

Multi-Flyer (settled at 84)

We told yesterday how this market had attracted interest from punters, with both teams in need of a win to keep any realistic play-off hopes alive. While Rajasthan’s innings didn’t quite go to plan, strangled by some superb bowling, they did manage 6 off the first over, and with Mumbai’s openers given license to throw the bat to knock off such a small total, the 14 scored in their opening over meant the Multi-Flyer market, which multiplies the two first over scores together, settled at 84, a profit of 38 times their stake for buyers before the game at 41-46.

Were there more shocks in the World Grand Prix darts last night?

After Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright had been knocked out on Monday night, it looked for a moment like number 1 seed and reigning champ Gerwyn Price may be about to follow in Tuesday’s 2nd round clash with Mervyn King. Price lost the first set and was made to battle hard, especially in the crucial third set when the score was 1-1. But the world champ made it through 3-1 in the end. He plays Dave Chisnall next after the number 8 seed battled back from two sets behind to beat Ross Smith 3-2. One seed did go down last night however, 4th seed James Wade losing 3-1 to Stephen Bunting.

Ryan Searle v Luke Humphries Checkout Ton or Bust (settled at 574)

While this match was probably the one without star names, there was no doubting the quality as Searle beat Humphries 3-1 to progress to the last 8. He had three ton-plus finishes, including 140 and 152 in back-to-back 12 dart legs before a maximum 170 in the 4th set. This market adds together all the checkouts in this match over 100. So if the first three legs finish with checkouts of 32, 101 and 170, the make-up in this market would be 271 (0+101+170). The Checkout Ton or Bust spread in this game was set at 227-247, so buyers pocketed 327 times their bet.

Most 180s Index Stephen Bunting settled at 25

Our daily specials included an index for which of the 8 players in action last night would have the most 180s. Stephen Bunting has looked back to his best this week, beating Daryl Gurney in the first round and losing only four legs to the number 4 seed. Bunting’s seven maximums were enough to earn him the maximum 25 points in this index, Dave Chisnall second, earning 10 points, with six 180s. Buyers of Bunting (4.25-5.75) in this market made a profit of 19.25 times their bet.

Was there any football on anywhere yesterday?

With the international break in full swing, the spotlight turned on the National League yesterday, with Wealdstone v Solihull Moors broadcast live on BT Sport. Both sides had chances, but ultimately the goalkeepers came out on top as they played out a fairly dull 0-0 draw.

Total Goal Minutes (settled at 0)

As we mentioned in yesterday’s blog, we’d seen action in the Total Goal Minutes market, with both teams having recently conceded five in a game. Wealdstone are pretty tight at home though, and, apart from the 2-2 draw last time in front of their own fans, there recent home results now read 0-0, 1-0 and 0-0. Sellers of Total Goal Minutes (128-138) made the maximum 128 times their bet.
