Daily Spread Betting Round-up

What were the biggest winning bets on Monday's darts & football?

Who won the 2022 World Darts Championship at Ally Pally?

Peter Wright won his 2nd World Darts Championship with an impressive 7-5 win over Michael Smith in last night’s final. England’s Smith had extinguished Welsh hopes by despatching both Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton en route to the final, but the Bully Boy was found wanting at the crucial stage of an enthralling final. Wright is just the 6th man to win more than one PDC world title, and just the 3rd Scottish two-time darts world champ after Jocky Wilson and Gary Anderson.

Highest Checkout x Total 180s (settled at 6847)

With two of the world’s best maximum scorers this was always going to be high, and with the close match giving more opportunity to add to the score, it was the buyers who were big winners in this market. The spread was set at 5050-5200, buyers copping a profit of 1647 times their bet. There was 41 180s in this game and a top checkout of 167.

What football action was there on Monday?

Manchester United went down to a dismal 1-0 home defeat against Wolves, the first of new boss Ralf Rangnick’s tenure in the Old Trafford hotseat. Joao Moutinho grabbed the only goal of the game eight minutes from time, but Wolves thoroughly deserved their victory, having been dominant throughout.

Performance Superiority Wolves/Man United (settled at 75)

While some United fans would have you believe the good times are coming back under Rangnick, others have pointed out that the problems United have had are more to do with the personnel than the man in charge, and this performance was as bad as any under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. While Wolves only won by one goal, they were on top throughout and should have won by a lot more. The superiority market awards points, with 25 for the win, 10 for a clean sheet, 10 for a draw, 15 for a goal, 10 for a clean sheet, 3 for a corner and -5 for a yellow card and -15 for red. The spread was set at United/Wolves 29-34, so noting the reversal of the teams, meaning the underdog came out on top.

What happened in the Championship?

While Manchester United were firing blanks in their Premier League home defeat against Wolves, the team a managed by their record scorer Wayne Rooney were staging a great comeback at Reading in a thrilling Championship clash. Reading were 2-0 up thanks to Junior Hoilett’s brace with four minutes left but Colin Kazim-Richards set up a grand stand finish with an 86th minute goal and veteran defender Curtis Davies grabbed an injury time equaliser that keeps Reading in the relegation battle along with bottom placed Derby.

Total Goal Mins x Corners (settled at 3497)

Our biggest football spread betting winner yesterday was a buyer in the Total Goal Mins x Corners market in the Reading v Derby game. The spread was set at 980-1080, but with 13 corners combining with the four goals, especially the two late Rams efforts in the 86th and 90th minutes, meant the total sailed well over, with buyers making 2417 times their bet.
