Points Prediction Spreads

At Spreadex, one of the more popular football spread betting markets for punters is the Points Prediction spreads where our traders forecast how many points they think each team will get each season.

Betters can buy on the spread if they think the team will do better than the prediction, or sell if they think the club will do worse than expected.

Points are updated throughout the season so bets can be opened and closed as the matches tot up. So who were the real over-performers and under-performers during the campaign? All is revealed below.

Spreadex Premier League Spread Betting Table 15-16

Leicester were by far and away the winners here with their final points haul of 81 a massive 40.75 points above their expected haul before the season began.

West Ham were second, over-performing by 16.75 points, then Watford who finished 10.25 points above expectations and then Tottenham and Southampton both ending 8.75 and 6.25 points above predicted.

At the bottom, Chelsea were the big under-performers finishing a huge 32.75 points behind their expected haul as they managed to amass just 50 points come May.

Second bottom were Aston Villa, 21.75 points below expectations, then Man City, 15.25 points under par, Man United 9.25 below expected, Everton and Arsenal both 7.25 off the pace and Liverpool 5.75 points below their expected tally.

The analysis shows how it really was the 'perfect storm' for Leicester with their phenomenal over-performance coinciding with a combined under-performance from all the so called bigger clubs allowing the Foxes to claim the title and one of the biggest upsets in sporting history.
