Sports Blog 03/05/2016: UEFA Champions League Semi-Final, 2nd Leg – Bayern Munich v Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid have won their last eight in a row, conceding just once in that time and another clean sheet would see them dispose of their German opponents after a 1-0 first leg win last week.

However, the Spreadex football traders make Bayern strong favourites on home turf with a Goal Supremacy spread of Bayern/Atletico 0.9 – 1.1 suggesting the tie is very much in the balance as to who will eventually progress.

Sitting joint-top of La Liga, Atletico have conceded just 16 goals in 36 games all season and Diego Simeone would love nothing more than to face city rivals Real in the final to try and avenge the heartbreaking Champions League loss to their fierce rivals two years ago.

Guardiola meanwhile faces the prospect of going head-to-head with his new employers Manchester City in the final in Milan on May 28th.

Pre-kick-off, Spreadex clients were edging ever so slightly towards Atletico with more sellers on the Goal Supremacy spread, however punters were still anticipating goals with plenty of buyers on a Total Goal spread of 2.3 – 2.5.

On the fixed odds, Bayern may be favourites to win the match on the night at 8/15 but Atletico are favourites to qualify at 8/13 compared to Bayern’s 11/10 price.

The first leg lead and Bayern’s lack of away goal seems to leave punters with the view that Guardiola may not be able to leave the German giants on a European high.
