With one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals, can PSG finish the job off against Barcelona at 7.45 on BT Sport 2? In one of their worst performances for years, Barca left Paris with a 4 albatross around their neck after being outclassed by their hosts. The lack of away goal is a real killer, meaning that they need to win big and, ideally, make sure that PSG don’t score. If any team is able to find a boatload of goals, however, it is Barcelona. In La Liga they have scored 24 goals in their last 6 games – a staggering 4 goals per game average, exactly the kind of form they need to stand a chance of going through on Wednesday night. That run has seen Barca rise back to the top of the table, one point ahead of Real Madrid who admittedly have a game in hand (meaning April’s El Clasico is going to be a doozy). Lionel Messi has been in luminous form during that period, scoring at least once in each of those 6 league games; he now has 38 goals in all competitions this season, and heads into the last 16 2nd leg at a whopping Super Mega PGM spread of 73-85. Luis Suarez then trails Messi with 27 goals and a Super Mega PGM of 59-69, while Neymar is at 33-39 and Arda Turan is at 20-24. As for PSG, they both know that a) it won’t take much to send them through to the next round, and b) that they in no way can afford to underestimate their opponents. All their big-hitters got in on the action in Paris a few weeks ago, with a brace from Angel Di Maria (who sits at a Super Mega PGM of 12-16) followed by strikes from Julian Draxler (at 10-14) and Edinson Cavani (at 39-45); just one goal from any of that trio would likely put the quarter-finals beyond Barca’s reach. Nevertheless, the Catalan colossus has lost just once at the Nou Camp this season, and will be gunning to pull off a minor miracle, with Spreadex offering a Barcelona/PSG Goal Supremacy spread of 1.2-1.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.55-3.75. Though not quite as shocking as the above, there could still be a surprise exit when Borussia Dortmund host Benfica at 7.45pm on BT Sport 3. The German side unexpectedly lost the 1st leg 1-0 thanks to a second half strike from Benfica’s top scorer Konstantinos Mitroglou, who sits at a Super Mega PGM of 12-16. That is only a narrow deficit to overcome, however, and Dortmund will fancy their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals. Their most recent fixture was a huge 6-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, the perfect primer for their European jollies, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (who has a Super Mega PGM of 73-85) taking his season-tally to 25 gaols with a brace. Though the Portuguese champions head to the Westfalenstadion with a slim advantage, their German opponents are still favoured, with Spreadex offering a Borussia Dortmund/Benfica Goal Supremacy spread of 1.65-1.85 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.2-3.4.
