Sports Betting Blog 11/07/2016: Spreadex's UEFA Euro 2016 Players of the Tournament



Germany may have not have made it to the final but that didn’t stop Toni Kroos being named as Euro 2016 Player of the Tournament after a study of the Spreadex Player Performance betting market make-ups during the competition.


We analysed the data from all 450 players who appeared during the 51 matches and the Real Madrid ace came out on top via our scoring system ahead of fellow German Mesut Özil in second and Spain’s Andrés Iniesta in third.

French pair Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann were fourth and fifth with fellow countryman Paul Pogba seventh behind Belgium and Chelsea man Eden Hazard in sixth.

Another Chelsea player, Spain’s Cesc Fàbregas was in eighth while Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Germany’s Jérôme Boateng made up the top 10.

While there has been a general feeling that the quality may have suffered overall after the expansion to 24 teams, there have still been some consistent performers to admire over the 31 days of action as shown by our top 20 list, below.

Our Player Performance scoring system is based on the following: 25 points per goal scored, 10 per assist, 10 for hitting the woodwork, 5 per shot on target that didn’t result in a goal, 5 per shot blocked in the six yard box, 3 per free-kick won, 2 per attacking pass completed and 2 per shot off target.
