Sports Blog 13/07/2015: Cycling Update – Tour de France 2015, Tuesday 14th July 2015

The 2013 winner is currently odds on favourite to win at 8/13, and will be going into the stage 10 Tarbes to La Pierre Saint Martin leg of the race wearing the yellow jersey after clocking in at a current time of 31 hours, 34 minutes and 12 seconds following the first 9 stages. Since the now-dismissed Lance Armstrong domination at the start of the millennium, only Alberto Contador has won more than one Tour. That could all change if Froome keeps up his current form, who is looking to secure a 3rd Tour victory for Team Sky in the last 4 years.

Twelve seconds behind Froome is the American Tejay van Gardeen, at fixed odds of 11/1, who came 5th in last year’s Tour, whilst the Belgian Greg Van Avermaet is in 3rd with 27 seconds to make up on the leading Brit.

Tour De France Fixed Odds Winner July 13th

Peter Sagan, winner of the green jersey for the past 3 years, is 38 seconds behind the leader, but sits atop both the points classification (with 213) and the young rider classification. Sagan’s Tinkoff-Saxo teammate, the aforementioned 2-time Tour champion Alberto Contador is in 5th, 1 minute 3 seconds off the pace with fixed odds of 11/1.

The Colombian Rigoberto Uran of Etixx-Quick Step has a fixed odds price of 150/1 and is in 6th with 1 minute 81 seconds to make up, whilst at 300/1 Alejandro Valverde of Movistar Team is in 7th at 1 minute 50 behind Froome. Froome’s Team Sky colleague, and fellow Brit, Geraint Thomas is then in 8th at 1 minute 52 behind his teammate. 2013’s Tour de France runner-up Nairo Quintana is in 9th, 1 minute 59 behind the man who beat him in 2013 with fixed odds of 12/5, whilst sitting in 2nd in the young rider classification. Finishing off the top 10 is the Czech Zdenek Stybar, also 1 minute 59 behind the frontrunner.

Outside the top 10, last year’s winner Vincenzo Nibali is at 40/1 in 13th, 2 minutes 22 behind Chris Froome; 2nd in the mountains classification table behind Daniel Teklehaimanot, and 18th overall, is Joaquim Rodriguez who has a fixed odds price of 150/1.
