The NFL is back for another season and the action kicked off in the early hours with a dramatic opener as The Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs began their defence in defeat as they were beaten 21-20 by the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead.
But what are the latest betting odds and what fixed odds and spread betting markets are on offer with Spreadex Sports this season? Read on to find out!
As always, when spread betting, be aware that losses can exceed deposits.
WHO ARE THE OUTRIGHT betting FAVOURITES for the superbowl?
Although suffering that defeat in their opener, the Kansas City Chiefs remain as the favourites on the fixed odds to win another Superbowl at 6/1, with the Philadelpia Eagles second favourites at 7/1.
The Detroit Lions will be buoyed by their win but are out at 18/1 - which may appeal to punters looking to back a dark horse.
Our spread betting Super Bowl Index market is the equivalent of the fixed odds outrights and works on a 100 - 70 - 50 - 33 - 20 index. This means:
100 points - Winner,
70 points - Runner-up,
50 points - Losing Conference Championship,
33 points - Losing Divisional Playoff,
20 points - Wild Card,
0 points - Others
The Kansas City Chiefs have an opening spread of 33.5 - 36.5. This means that if they were to win another Superbowl, punters who buy at 36.5 would return 63.5x their opening stake. However, if they did not even manage to lose at the Divisional Playoff or Conference Championship stage, a make-up of 0 on their spread would mean a 33.5x loss on initial stake for buyers, but a 33.5x return for sellers.
