Can Manchester United get their Europa League campaign back on track when they host Zorya Luhansk at 8.05pm on BT Sport 2? After unravelling following their derby defeat a few weeks ago Mourinho seemed to right the good ship United last Saturday with an impressive 4-1 dismantling of Leicester. That game was notable for a) Wayne Rooney being dropped and b) containing the first goal from Paul Pogba, who finally seemed to blossom against the Premier League champions. The Frenchman heads into Thursday night at Super Mega PGM of 20-24, behind Marcus Rashford’s 59-69 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s whopping 70-82. Rooney, meanwhile, is at 46-53, though back problems over the past few days have put his starting selection (something Mourinho had previously guaranteed) in doubt. Despite being perhaps the least fancied side left in the competition Zorya Luhansk actually head to Old Trafford above United in Group A. While Mourinho’s men found themselves floundering against Feyenoord, Zorya managed a 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce, only denied victory thanks to a 95th minute equaliser from the Turkish side’s centre back Simon Kjaer. It might be a bit too much to ask of a team that finished 4th in the Ukrainian Premier League to get a result at the Theatre of Dreams, however, with Spreadex offering a Manchester United/Zorya Luhansk Goal Supremacy spread of 2.3-2.5 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.2-3.4. Before Mourinho begrudgingly participates in the competition the Europa League’s other English team takes to the stage, with Southampton travelling to Hapoel Be’er Sheva at 6pm on BT Sport 3? It’s no surprise that the Saints took some time to bed in this season given their usual summer overhaul; yet after 2 losses and 2 draws in their first 4 games Southampton have gradually begun to improve, with victories over Swansea and West Ham in the league joined by an EFL Cup win over Crystal Palace. Their best performance arguably came in the Europa League, a 3-0 trouncing of Sparta Prague that saw Charlie Austin confidently make his case for his automatic selection. Interestingly, with one eye on Sunday’s fixture against Leicester, Austin (alongside Jose Fonte, Ryan Bertrand and Steven Davis) has been left at home, meaning there is no better time than now for Shane Long, at a Super Mega PGM of 20-24, to nab his first goal of the season. Claude Puel may end up regretting his decision to leave Austin behind, however, given the display Hapoel Be’er Sheva put on in Italy a few weeks ago. Facing Inter Milan, at the San Siro, is a daunting task for the biggest of sides, let alone the ostensible Israeli minnows. Yet Hapoel ended up coming away from their Europa League opener with all 3 points, with goals from Maor Buzaglo (who has a Super Mega PGM of 15-19) and Miguel Vitor shocking the Milanese legends. It remains to be seen whether the Israeli champions can repeat that feat on home turf; our traders’ fancy the visitors, offering a Southampton/ Hapoel Be’er Sheva Goal Supremacy spread of 0.2-0.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.35-2.55.
