Can Arsenal close in on 3rd place, and likely put the final nail in the coffin of Tottenham’s title hopes, with a win at Wembley this Saturday? After a very wobbly end of 2018/start of 2019, the Gunners have managed to re-find their footing in the last few weeks thanks to a relatively kind run of fixtures. Their February-opening loss at Man City was followed by a trio of games against bottom half of the table mainstays, with Arsenal picking up expected wins over Huddersfield, Southampton and Bournemouth.
As for the Europea League, a completely lifeless 1-0 defeat in Bulgaria was easily overcome when BATE Borisov rocked up to the Emirates, a 3-0 victory setting up a last-16 trip to Renne next Thursday. Previously title race dark horses, Spurs have arguably seen their dreams shattered in the last week with a pair of miserable performances away from home. A late winner from Ashley Barnes caused a shock loss at Burnley – one that helped the Clarets lift away from the relegation zone – while defeat at Stamford Bridge not only gave Maurizio Sarri a bit of breathing room, but came complete with a farcical own goal from Kieran Trippier. They did, at least, find rather substantial success in the Champions League, placing one foot firmly in the quarter-finals thanks to a commanding 3-0 Wembley win over Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund. The clubs have already played each other twice this season, both at the Emirates. The first saw Spurs suffer an embarrassing 4-2 defeat, one that saw a brace for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (who goes into the weekend at a Super Mega PGM of 31-37. Just over 2 weeks later Tottenham got their revenge in the Carabao Cup, a 2-0 victory thanks to Son Heung-min and Dele Alli (who trail Harry Kane’s 51-59 with spreads of 30-36 and 14-18 respectively). Desperate to avoid a spiralling ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Germany, Spurs could do with a confidence boost. Spreadex are offering a Tottenham/Arsenal Goal Supremacy spread of 0.35-0.55 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.95-3.15.
