Can Tottenham qualify for the Champions League last 16 with a Wembley win against Real Madrid, at 7.45pm on BT Sport 2? Spurs suffered their 3rd loss of the season – in all competitions – on Saturday, following up their mid-week EFL disappointment against West Ham with a late 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford. In that latter game especially Mauricio Pochettino missed Harry Kane’s incisive presence going forwards, with the England striker absent from both fixtures due to a hamstring injury. Though he isn’t a 100% certainty, it does seem likely that Kane – who has 13 goals in 12 appearances in all competitions – will play on Wednesday, and heads to Wembley with a Super Mega PGM spread of 51-59. He’s trailed by Fernando Llorente, at 28-34 despite failing to find the back of the net since arriving over the summer; Son Heung-Min, at 28-34; and Dele Alli, at 19-23. From a points perspective Real Madrid have seen identical form to Spurs, both domestically (where they trail Barcelona by 8 points, the same deficit that exists between Tottenham and Man City) and in Europe. Yet where the Spaniards have slipped up is arguably more concerning than Tottenham’s losses to Chelsea and Manchester United. Back in September they were beaten 1-0 by Real Betis, while on Sunday they suffered an ignominious 2-1 loss at the hands of La Liga debutantes Girona. Zinedine Zidane also has the issue of an out-of-form Cristiano Ronaldo. By his own lofty standards there’s been something missing from Ronaldo’s game, especially domestically. Though he missed the first 4 La Liga games through suspension, 1 goal in 6 games is his worst ever start to a Real Madrid season. Admittedly he has been far better in Europe, with braces against APOEL and Dortmund, and a converted penalty against Tottenham, leaving him with 5 goals and a Super Mega PGM of 55-63. Like Spurs, Real will reach the knockouts with a win on Wednesday. It looks like it’ll be as tight as the reverse fixture a fortnight ago, however, with Spreadex offering a narrow Real Madrid/Tottenham (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.15-0.35 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.15-3.35. Elsewhere Manchester City will be looking to preserve their unbeaten run when they travel to Napoli at 7.45pm on BT Sport 3. City are yet to lose a single game this season; in fact, their only blemish on an otherwise spotless record is a 1-1 draw against Everton back in August. That’s 14 wins from 15 games in all competitions, with 45(!!!) goals scored and just 8 conceded. City are so overflowing with options up front that it isn’t Sergio Aguero (at a Super Mega PGM of 37-43), Gabriel Jesus (at 28-34) or Leroy Sane (at 18-22) who are the club’s top scorer. No, those 3 are all on 8 goals to Raheem Sterling’s 9, though the English winger still trails spreads-wise, at 17-21. Napoli shouldn’t be underestimated; they sit atop Serie A having not lost a single game so far this season. And in Dries Mertens they have a player on 12 goals and a Super Mega PGM of 40-47. However they’ve struggled in Europe, leading Spreadex to offer a Manchester City/Napoli (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0-0.2 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.05-3.25. Finally, can Liverpool improve on their record-breaking haul against NK Maribor when they host the Slovenian champs at 7.45pm on BT Sport ESPN? That 7-0 victory was the biggest away win in the history of the European Cup, and allowed the Reds to try and put their 4-1 hammering at the hands of Spurs to the back of their minds. They built on that win last weekend, a 3-0 victory over Huddersfield that could have been 4 if Mohammed Salah hadn’t missed a first half penalty. Anything but another sizeable win on Wednesday is unthinkable for the Reds, especially since they face tricky, potential group deciders, against Sevilla and Spartak Moscow in the coming weeks. Glancing at the club’s Super Mega PGM spreads, however, and it looks like they’ll be fine; Daniel Sturridge is at 80-92, with Roberto Firmino and Salah both at 79-91. The Slovenians may want to brace themselves for their trip to Anfield – Spreadex are offering a chunky Liverpool/Maribor Goal Supremacy spread of 3.4-3.6, alongside a Total Goals spread of 4.25-4.45.
