Can Arsenal prove their title-chasing credentials when they host Liverpool this Saturday, at 5.30pm on BT Sport 1? The weekend’s game could be a doozy. Both sides are among England’s best at the moment, and each head into the fixture with their own unbeaten records to protect. Though they were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Chelsea, and suffered a frustrating defeat in the Champions League against Napoli, Jurgen Klopp’s lads are yet to actually lose a game in the Premier League. The Gunners, meanwhile, see their loss-less record stretched over all competitions. Since they slipped to back-to-back defeats in the opening 2 games of the season, Unai Emery’s Arsenal have won 11 and draw once, that latter result an irritating 2-2 stalemate against Crystal Palace that ended the club’s winning streak. The one caveat is that, when the Gunners have come up against a fellow title-contender, they haven’t fared too well, losing 2-0 to Man City and 3-2 to Chelsea. There’s also a lot of talent on offer goings forwards. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the joint top scorer in the league with 7 goals – he has 9 in all competitions – and heads into Saturday at a Super Mega PGM of 0.4-0.6. For Liverpool, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah both find themselves on 7 goals apiece across all competitions – with Mane the more prolific domestically – and at Super Mega PGMs of 27-32 and 53-61 respectively. Both of their meetings in 2017/18 were filled with drama. At Anfield Liverpool walloped the Gunners 4-0, perhaps the most humiliating result of Arsene Wenger’s final season. At the Emirates, meanwhile, it was a neutral’s dream, a 3-3 thriller that, at one point, saw 4 goals scored in the space of 6 minutes. And though at lot of things have changed since then, the Reds perhaps still have the edge, with Spreadex offering a Liverpool/Arsenal (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.4-0.6 alongside an average target price of 3.1-3.3.
