Will Man City edge a tiny bit closer to an unprecedented quadruple with a Premier League-topping victory over Cardiff, at 7.45pm on Sky Sports?
The defending champions haven’t lost a game in their last 12 fixtures. In fact, they’d have a 100% perfect record if it hadn’t taken penalties to beat Chelsea in the EFL Cup final. And, if that is the only blemish across 2 whole months in 4 different competitions, then you’re not doing too badly.
Even better, that period has seen City in beast-mode, including a 6-0 win over Chelsea in the league mad a 7-0 trouncing of Schalke in their Champions League last-16 2nd leg. All in all Guardiola’s gents banged in 35 goals over February and March, with Sergio Aguero alone finding the back of the net 12 times. Sadly the Argentine ace – who has 29 goals total – is set to miss Wednesday’s Welsh visit due to an injury that took him off the pitch at the weekend. For any other team that’d be a major blow. For City it just means that Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have another chance to shine; they sit at mega Super Mega PGMs of 106-126 and 65-75 respectively. Those spreads are so high because, well, Cardiff aren’t very good. While a loss on Wednesday won’t be the final nail in the coffin of the Bluebirds’ tenure in the Premier League, it certainly will make the lid a bit tighter, with the Welsh club in 18th place on 28 points. A truly shocking victory, however, would mean Cardiff are suddenly breathing down Burnley’s neck ahead of Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor. Last time these sides met, City left Wales with a tidy 5-0 victory. Repeat that feat on Wednesday, regardless of by what margin, and they will return to the top of the Premier League, one point ahead of Liverpool. To be honest, it is hard not to see that happening; Spreadex are offering a Man City/Cardiff Goal Supremacy spread of 3.2-3.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 4.1-4.4.
